I've seen it a bunch in LoL, SWTOR, and I've heard people say over and over again during my years in QA. I'm surprised none of you guys have ever noticed this.

I used to work with a guy who would use the term like 20 times a day because we were working on military simulators and all of the vehicles had mounted turrets. My friend and I never had the heart to call him out on it, but it was really annoying.

All those results are riddled with spelling errors so it's not really indicative of a trend for turret in particular as much as people can't spell

I've seen this several times before on boards for video games with turrets in them, though I've never heard anyone pronounce it that way in real life. Of course, there are no scenarios that come to mind where I would hear anyone use the word "turret" in real life either. So no, you're definitely not a crazy person.

Literally just got this email in our customer support queue at work:

accidentally cleared turrent

It happened again :( ... I accidentally cleared a turrent during the
end-of-battle victory jump. I don't know what I can do to help prevent this
since I am just tapping to fight zombies and not purposefully trying to
touch my turrents at all. I didn't even notice I had done it until Vamp
pointed it out. Sigh... perhaps a confirmation to clear prompt is needed
for these big ticket items?
