Do they have character profiles in this one? I remember finding out there weren't any in IV and I was pretty annoyed because it's like the minimum you could do...

I really wish Namco would put half as much effort into the Soul Calibur series as they do compared the Tekken games. What's the point of doing a time skip if they half ass the story part?? I guess in the long run it doesn't matter if the core gameplay is sound but it feels like they could do so much more if they cared.

Its kinda sad how barren Soul Caliburs single player mode has become... it used to be one of the standouts in the genre.

Probably gonna cancel my preorder and put it onto Blazblue instead.

Soul Calibur 4's profiles were exactly the same as the arcade mode intros. Those aren't really profiles.

I am still excited for this game, because it looks incredibly fun. But something tells me that in order to really get my money's worth, I should join the tournament scene.

Yeah...those aren't REALLY profiles. Compared to what they used to have? Detailed, looked better and had VOICE SAMPLES (<--that's what I really want).

And I know it's single player in a fighting game but compared to what they used to have, it's sad. All the extra stuff (which is actually standard in single player fighting games) like character endings, etc. was what really drew me in and made me attached to the characters which in turn fostered competitive interest. It's also how I at least got to get more comfortable with the game and characters I would never have otherwise touched by just playing around them in single player a bit.

Legendary Souls mode is stupidly hard. I still haven't unlocked Algol, and I figure that's the way to unlock him. Gotta figure out what's safe and what's punishable.

Also, kind of annoying in CAS is now the chicks no longer wear panties when they're stripped of all their clothes. They have ugly boxer-briefs that look like a diaper when you put on one of those armor pieces that cover the entire body (like when I tried to make my Mina). You can put underwear on that gets rid of the diaper..but then you also have something covering the boobs when the point of the over-armor you put on was to show as much cleavage as possible (a Mina staple...sort of).

- You can't mash out Supers like SF4 ultras and hope to get lucky; there's a little bit of startup before the actual super flash (where the game does a closeup of the character)
- After the flash, it doesn't seem like the super can be interrupted by any attack, though I haven't tested this extensively
- It doesn't seem like you can counter super if someone randomly throws a super at you; you have to block or sidestep (not sure if you can sidestep after the flash)
- Most supers don't seem TOO unsafe on block, nothing like the 100 recovery frames in Street Fighter 4
- Tested with Pyrrha: BB (hit) -> super will beat out anything the opponent throws at you, meaning they have to block or sidestep your super
BB (blocked) -> super will be stuffed by pretty much anything

gonna see what else i can test, this game's training mode is kind of convoluted

I just saw a super get interrupted after start up animation by another super (Sieg's by Xiba's). I have no idea if that was because it was inputted before the first super or on reaction though. Also it was online so it may not mean anything at all.

Just unlocked Algol. There's a mode called Quick Battle where you just battle AI opponents. You can scroll through sets of opponents. One of them happened to be Algol; you just gotta beat him and he's unlocked.

Patsuka can combo into his super from his 214B+G throw. Also from a 2A. 2A to super doesn't seem that hard to hitconfirm, you can just buffer 236236 and wait to see if the 2A connects.

He seems really really good in this game, overall.
