It's worth checking out I do like it, but aaaah well I for one disagree and find One Piece better in every aspect. But just for discussion, what do you find better about pinkhair guy over Luffy? Or Lucy over Nami?

Both have better designs and I like their battle abilities more. Lucy's summons beat the hell out of what little I saw of Nami's fighting abilities. I just like Natsu's fire power more than Luffy's rubber arsenal too. And everything really? Fairy Tail has such an amazing soundtrack that's also pretty unique for the genre.

I know design is something that varies among people and some are more picky than others, but I just seriously don't like how Oda draws his characters. The female designs are especially unappealing.

Hey fair enough, everyone has different taste. But for me, well Fairy Tail's art style and character design is pretty notably influenced by One Piece. Lucy's design is practicaly identical to Nami except she's blonde, I don't see how that's better. And as for Natsu having a better design than Luffy.... well, I find Natsu's look pretty generic, where as Luffy has style and I dig scars.

If we look at "anime" as adaptation and judge them only by how well they adapt their source material, FT is probably better than OP.

Better music, better pacing, good animation for a shounen anime.

Obviously with things that are inherent in the source like the story and characters, One Piece kills.

For one thing, saying low budget anime is objectively bad is false for all sorts of obvious reasons. And whether debating on if the pace makes it "trash" or not, Fairy Tail is only 114 episodes in, and One Piece's pacing was perfect that early on. And while One Piece has a unique art style, aside from Fairy Tail being newer and "digital shiny", to me it doesn't look like it has a notably higher budget in general. Not that that's the be all end all anyway.

Anyways, opinions. Set sail for One Piece.

Influenced by Oda's? Mashima's been using the same character designs forever though. All that changed is his art got better, but it's still the same style. His series go back to at least just before or around the same time OP started. It sounds weird saying his art would be inspired by Oda when all he would have at that time is maybe a one-shot and a few chapters of OP to his career.

Yes, and Oda was an assistant to Kenshin's author etc. But I guess to you the second your career starts you stop being influenced by things. Fairy Tail started in 2006 after One Piece had been ruling for a decade, and I'm not exactly the first person to point out some similarities.

Also just for the record, One Piece had been running in Shonen Jump for two years when Rave Master started.

FT is battle shounen. OP is adventure. If anything Toriko was inspired by OP. FT seems more like DBZ than OP.

Assistant work is a whole different thing. Nobody is going to say Rurouni Kenshin is Oda's work. He was an assistant sure, but it's not his own creation. It's impossible to know if Mashima was inspired by a new manga creator like Oda since he's never said anything about it. He's just said he was inspired by Toriyama like all modern shounen creators and Miyazaki. Mashima's art has had the same style in everything I've read by him with varying degrees of how polished it looks due to him growing as an artist over time.
