Great idea, that way they can all go in to debt while still waiting for the jobs you still can't make.

Is that the excuse you're using so that you don't have to go to college?

Don't worry, people can stay in school as long as they can get government money to go to school . And they can get government money as long as the government can borrow money. And the government can keep borrowing money as long as it can print the money needed to repay it. And it can print the money as long as people believe in the government's financial system. And the people will believe in the government's financial system as long as people believe in hope and change. And people will believe in hope and change as long as Obama is president.

That's why you should vote for Obama!

Why did they decide to show one year for Bush and two for Obama? Not a biased graph or anything

uh because the point is not "obama made more jobs than bush" but that the recession that started under bush obama has managed to pull us out of and into job creation

also obama has ALREADY created more jobs than than the net gain of the entire bush administration (including all 8 years) so that is a moot point

Obama hasn't created any jobs at all. Your own chart demonstrates that we are well below where we were in January 2009. If you insist on counting those, than you have to count all the jobs gained under Bush before things tanked in 2008.

The thing that bothers me about people talking about January 2009 is that Obama inherited the economic problems. His actions have affected the economy greatly, but I don't think it is fair to place all the blame on him. Obama (or any president, really) can only do so much, even though hindsight says he could have made better decisions.

There are plenty of people who voted for Obama who are unhappy with him. Personally I kept facepalming at people buying into his HOPECHANGE. Just shows how fickle people are.

Also, my favorite thing is when people talk about gas prices.

"In December 2008 and January 2009, gas prices were below $2 per gallon! Now, under NObama, it went to $4+ per gallon!" Yes, and gas prices were over $4 (at least in California) in summer 2008, and they came again because of things going on internationally, without much that Obama could do (from what I can tell, anyway).

He never actually went into detail on how he would implement it, he just appealed to peoples' emotions through his speeches.

Other than the fact that every single other president got elected on a platform of lies as well

Oh wait, I forgot that in America, we ignore the past, and we sure as hell don't try to learn from it

If he's trying to say the right things to get elected then he's doing a pretty bad job of it

The stuff he's saying appeals to a lot of people. Not all, but that was the same for Obama. It's not like every American was buying into his HOPECHANGE rhetoric.

Seriously. I didn't vote for Obama because I seriously thought he was going to usher in some new world of racial equality and economic success. I voted for him because he was smart, honest and cared about the middle class and health care reform.

I'm going to vote for him again because he has made a large impact on the way the world views our country, and I do believe his economic policies can succeed. Everything he said last night made sense and can work if everyone works together. But no, of course in this society every issue has to be split by party lines.

As for sending kids to school, TC conveniently forgot to mention the part where he advocated for schools to keep tuition from rising or lose their funding.

Schools need to stop hiring their bloated administration staffs, and have the presidents take pay cuts. I thought the goal of being a university president was to help students learn, not become a millionaire.

I don't know if it's true for undergraduate programs, but I know law schools are literally judged (by US News) based on how much they spend per student. Like, a school spending $45/student on dinner at a relatively high end place with an important professor/judge is good, but just cutting tuition by that same amount doesn't help the ranking.

I'm pretty sure the top goals of most university presidents are:

1. Solicit donations from alumni.
2. Boost your school's ranking in US News.

Not sure which is more important.
