They changed the Best Picture rules again where up to ten films can make it but they have to receive something like 5% of the first place votes. Only 9 films did.

I actually haven't seen all that many films from 2011 though. From the top of my head, I can think of:

- Rango
- Moneyball
- The Descendents
- Adventures of Tintin

That's all I can honestly think of. If that is the final amount, then that is easily the least that I have seen in a year for as long as I can remember. I used to sometimes see that many in a month back when I was a teenager

only Extremely Loud and Extremely close is kind of iffy.

it's not "kind of iffy" - the source material is terrible, and I doubt the movie is any better

the movie did not even get good reviews. on rotten tomatoes it has a 48%. it is ridiculous that it was nominated.

Drive and Warrior got snubbed pretty heavily. Then again I have only seen The Help and Midnight in Paris from the best picture nominees. But I thought Drive and Warrior were a whole lot better than those 2.

Gross. I can't remember any year in which the nominations sucked that badly.

Someone on another forum pointed out that we have three silent performances nominated this year (The two from The Artist and Max von Sydow). Kind of cool. Probably the first time multiple silent performances have been nominated since the first ceremony.

No one's seen Warrior? I liked it over Drive, even, though I suppose it's a tad corny.

That and "The Help" were the only two movies I saw and liked this year
