Family doesn't matter. Religion doesn't matter.

What it comes down to is that EVERY single "successful" attempt and instating gay marriage in this country has been an affront to democracy. Society has a right to determine for itself when it is necessary to change its longstanding institutions. And every time it has been up to the People, gay marriage has soundly lost.

THAT is what David Tyree meant when he declared that anarchy would ensue.

How is it an affront to democracy when the elected representatives in a representative democracy vote on it? Unless you think the entire fabric of the political structure throughout US history is an affront to democracy, in which case it's strange that you pick this one instance to raise your concerns about a much more systematic problem.

I'm saying the representitives did not accurately represent the will of their constituents, but rather caved to appease their gay-loving voting base. This is pretty much the only issue where politicians purposely pass legislation to PREVENT a direct referendum from happening.

If anything, this issue is about the political elite oppressing the will of the people.

It's 100% fair when the issue is changing something that one group (straights) claims as its own.

This is the equivalent of forcing Catholics to allow women priests. They can do that when they deem change is necessary for themselves.

That's fine and all, but gay people who want to marry (someone of the opposite sex) should not be denied. This is a fundamental human right given by God.

Literally lost because of laws spread by the Mormon church and millions of dollars being funneled into their campaign. And it the majority vote was only by 5%, not 40.
