Would you say:

"We should go do ______ on Thursday."

or

"We should go do _______ next Thursday."

It's gotta be option #2 right?

This upcoming Thursday
I accept that as well, I think I slip that in once in a while.

But someone just flat said to me, "Not today, how 'bout Thursday." Which immediately makes me think he's stoned and unaware of the day.

Doesn't matter,, people will understand either way. I'd do either or, probably the second

You did indeed stab me in the back. However, you are only level one, whilst I am level 50. That means I should remain uninjured.

I would say either one works. If you say "let's do it Thursday" and today is Thursday, it should be automatically assumed you do not mean today.

Also, what I'd actually say is "let's do it THIS thursday." The word this always means the soonest occurrence of that day that isn't today. Next is a little more vague, sometimes it can mean the one after that, like if it's thursday and you say "next friday."

I'd say "This Thursday". "Next Thursday" refers to the Thursday after the upcoming Thursday. I guess it sounds a little confusing, but no one's ever misunderstood me.

Yeah it's "this thursday". Sometimes you say you want to do something "not THIS thursday but NEXT thursday" which would imply 2 weeks
