Heck, atm to cancel you actually have to add /cancel to your URL and yet they don't tell you that anywhere, it's players who figured it out.

I have no idea if it's even legal.

Myself I can't log in anymore so I'll call my CC company to tell them to block any charges from Bioware/EA from now on. I could call SWTOR customer support, but it ain't toll free for me and since I want service in French I have to make an International call to the other side of the ocean, yeah no **** you Bioware.

The TORtanic is sinking at an astonishing speed and I'm savoring every single second of its demise.

Today's patch happened.

What happened : They ****ed up world PvP badly, now all level 50 Empire players got max PvP rank and the best PvP gear, Republic got nothing, Bioware ain't gonna rollback cause their engine doesn't support the feature so Republic players will always be at a disadvantage from now on since the Empire players have now MUCH MUCH stronger gear.

Just a recap:
>PVP Broken allowing Empire to steamroll republic spawn camping them non-stop and able to rack up billions of valor to get the best gear in the game in no time flat
>No rollbacks. Hero engine doesn't support rollbacks. No action taken against empire players either
>Cancel subscription button removed the day before billing

The TORtanic has split in half and all the life boats are gone.


So yeah, an entire faction got powerleveled and there's nothing Bioware can, or is willing to, do about.

Even if this game were actually well received, this is more than enough to bury it for good.

it's not that they just "gave" one side gear and didn't to the other. It's that because of how things are currently set up, the massive population imbalance means that it is almost impossible for Republic players to earn that gear, but incredibly easy for Imperial players to get it.

i had been hearing some encouraging things about the game too (though also that it was a hotkey mmo). oh wells. with games like guild wars 2 on the horizon, not a huge loss.

As for what happened?

At level 50 you can go to a planet called Ilum. It's a world PvP planet where a daily and weekly quest take place. Prior to todays patch, there were a few objectives in the battle that would help complete your daily/weekly quest, such as blowing up or repairing cannons.

This caused the two factions to essentially trade back and forth and get dailies and weeklies done without any actual fighting.

With todays patch 1.1, you now have to kill enemy players to get your weekly done. Sadly, most servers have a much larger Imperial population compared to Republic. A few Republic players show up and get roflstomped by the 100+ Imperial players waiting to do their dailies/weeklies. Reps can't do **** because of the horrible population imbalances, so they stop trying and no one gets them done.

On top of that, there were changes made to Valor (at level 60 Valor ranking you can start getting the best PvP gear). I skipped over it, but it seems like the short version is that the changes are basically allowing the larger population on each server to easymode their way to high level Valor.

Stupid changes that clearly weren't properly tested have screwed things up huge, and now Bioware is trying to silence all the pissed off people.

So really the issue is that there are too many incentives for spawncamping and that the Republic is underpowered.

So they need to remove valor for anyone killed in the last x minutes. And they need to buff all the Republic skills/stats/whatever.

Apparently people are supposed to be killed by turrets when trying to spawn camp.

"Hello everyone; I wanted to update you on the issues we’ve been seeing today on the live servers, specifically within the Open World PvP area on Ilum. We’re aware that on some servers, either Republic or Empire groups have been capturing the Ilum control points, entering the enemy’s base and ‘camping’ the medcenters, preventing the opposite faction from leaving their base to recapture control points. This is not a fair or balanced gameplay experience and can also severely affect client performance, so we’re taking steps to address this.

Our intended design for Ilum Open World PvP is that players are instantly killed when entering the enemy’s base safe area, just like in Warzones, and that the defending faction can take taxis to other points within the zone. As of Game Update 1.1, this is not working as intended. We have found the issue preventing this from happening under server load and will be publishing an Emergency Patch to address the issue. We’re aiming to have this patch published early tomorrow morning (January 19th, 5 AM US CST).

In addition to these changes, we’ll be reducing the population cap on Ilum. This should help increase performance by requiring your client to render fewer characters on-screen at once.

Regarding Valor gains, with the 1.1 update, players now receive a base reward of 20 Valor per unique enemy player defeated in a short time, and this base reward is modified by the number of objectives that the player’s faction owns. The gains are rate limited per player killed, encouraging players to attack unique players, not to pursue vendettas. The Valor gains players can see over time will vary greatly depending on the activity level in the zone. This is expected.

To dispel a couple of rumors that have been seen today – there is no Valor gain from destroying turrets within enemy bases, and none from killing NPCs.

We encourage players to avoid Ilum until our patch is deployed. As a temporary measure we will be disabling taxi services which would normally take players into the Open World PvP area. However, players will still be able to taxi out of the area.

We will continue to monitor Ilum across all servers and will make further changes to gameplay if required. We welcome your feedback here on the Forums, but please ensure your feedback is constructive and specific. Feedback based on rumor does not help us isolate potential issues."

It's a tough fix. You could boost stats, but you need to find the right point of giving them a chance without overpowering them.

I play Republic, and literally as soon as you fly into the base, 80+ Imps are waiting there to gank you as soon as you land.

It's really annoying how so many people went Imperials. I don't get why so many people have a hard on for always playing the bad guys like it makes them tough or badasses by association or something.

Yes being a big underdog can suck, but it does beat roflstomping your way to the top of the chain and having nothing to do for months on end until the next major patch.

Maybe it's my unfamiliarity with MMOs, but simply addressing the issue, no matter how late, is good enough for me.

Considering there's plenty of non-MMO games that NEVER address any unbalancing issues, I'm fine with them admitting "Hey, we made a mistake, let's work on fixing it." And, you know, making an effort to fix it.
