Saw this. The chasm in understanding foreign affairs between Paul and that crowd was mindblowingly shocking. Hoping it was just a handful of really dumb people...but who knows. He got booed like three times for saying some pretty common sense stuff.

Well, the next day on his radio show, Glenn Beck declared that Paul "sounds a lot like Osama Bin Laden" and "has the same foreign policy as Barack Obama" so no, I don't think it's just a handful of really dumb people...

Polls just two days ago were showing him squarely in third, and what we were hearing from the Paul campaign was that after their ads they got so many donations from South Carolina that they were hiring extra people to mobilize their ground game. So...a strong third place finish was kind-of expected.

I was expecting/hoping that the Republican tendency to fall in line would result in the Santorum voters defecting to Gingrich and Paul getting 3rd. But while the falling in line did happen pretty well, Santorum still held onto 3rd.

I'm kinda torn as to what to root for actually.

I'm realistic enough to understand that the odds of Paul actually getting the nomination are VERY small.

On the one hand, if everyone else stays in, SFF kicks in and Paul will pick up more delegates and his chance to win increases slightly.

On the other hand, if everyone else drops out and it becomes Paul/Romney, it forces the debate to a much greater extent and allows a clearer and sharper contrast between those who believe in freedom and neocons.

That's not going to happen after tonight. Gingrich isn't going to drop out for a long time, and if Santorum drops out, that makes it worse for Paul because he's going to get last by a large margin in all but the bluest states. Better to keep it a 4-way race at least for now.

I think what happened in SC is that RP had a very strong core fanbase that gave him tons of money and such, but all the non-core fans and general public were probably too easily swayed by the mainstream media... why else would they vote for ****ing Gingrich

I know, but.....97%? 15% isn't very high at all. I'm pretty sure my parents have paid more than that for like 2 decades, and they're definitely not rich. Having more investment income than earned income doesn't even help this, because it'll draw you closer to 15% but won't get you under it. I dunno.

Either way, I wouldn't have been surprised at all if it was 80% or even 90%. And it probably won't hurt Romney much, because people are well aware that they pay a lower rate than him.

Incidentally, Citizens United wanted to release a film they made called Hillary: The Movie attacking her during the Democratic Primaries in 2008, and that's what the case was about. I wonder if they were stealth Obama supporters if a Republican couldn't get elected that year.
