TIRED of waiting for Silvercross for this, so I'm just gonna go ahead and do this part on my own, we will RE-UNITE for our game of the year list.

anyway, these are my top 30 gaming moments of the year, this year had a lot of awesome moments. The one thing about sequel-itis this year, is I think it led to more "big moments" than usual because a lot of games were kind of going for conclusions to stories, thus, big moments.

This list contains spoilers for the following games, I will make sure to mark spoilers before each moment too so you can skip certain writeups....

#30: Epic Pony Cart Chase


So, you have to free a pimp/gangster dude from this S & M type place so he can help you in your fight. He speaks in autotune, but thats another story for another day. When you find him, he is all gagged up and tied to a pony cart... now people are coming. CRAP. Your pimp is now forced to carry you half naked through the streets in order to get away. BUT WAIT, HERE COME PURSUERS... it's MORE PEOPLE IN PONY CARTS. Also, when you shoot the tied up people carrying the pony carts THEY EXPLODE. theres no reason for it BUT THEY DO. YES YES YES

#29: Batman uppercuts Penguin


This is literally the greatest uppercut I have ever seen. It is a jumping slow motion uppercut that sends penguin flying like 20 feet. Just amazing. I was in absolute awe when it happened, it felt like he was in the air for 2 minutes when I first watched it. Just a beautiful, beautiful uppercut.

#28: Singing along to "What I Got"


Random but awesome. Early in the game, you get into a car with Pierce. He says you need some TUNEZ and changes up the radio stations. At first I thought this was just a subtle way for them to show you that you can change stations, I think I've seen it done in other Saints Row games or GTA games or something. The station you turn it to suddenly has "What I Got" by Sublime. All of a sudden, your characters in the car comment on the song, then they start singing! Best of all, they literally sing the whole song, start to finish, even throwing some funny ad-libs in (like one of them starting a verse too early then saying "GETS ME EVERYTIME"). Really random, cool, and surprising moment.

#27: The Final Boss is... Punch Out?


At the end of Ms. Splosion Man, you finally reach the end of the game... I was expecting a boss similar to the first few, where you do some platforming and light puzzle solving to beat the boss. I was naturally incredibly surprised when all of a sudden I was playing Punch Out >_>. It's pretty cool, and fun, and I really enjoyed it. This is also one of the few times the game's humor really shines too, with the little screens in between each fight. Very memorable way to end a game.

#26: Demon Strip Club

Unfortunately I can't link to this one >_>. In Shadows of the Damned you reach a section where you are at the demon strip club in the game. In one section of the Demon Realm, there is literally a giant topless chick dancing in the background. I thought it was cool. All of a sudden, I reached a huge gap in the level... I was a bit confused. When all of a sudden, THE NAKED CHICK LAYS DOWN AND CREATES A BRIDGE FOR ME TO CROSS!!! I'm literaly WALKING INBETWEEN HER CLEAVAGE!!!! OMFG!!!

It happens again later on, except this time, YOU WALK BETWEEN HER ASS CRACK. OMFGGG YESSS. so random, hilarious, and awesome.

#25: "Power" Comes On During Mission


You are about to parachute into a party, pretty cool I GUESS. All of a sudden, as you look out the helicopter... "Power" by Kanye kicks in. It makes the mission suddenly seem really epic, and fits it so well. Giant Bomb gave this moment the award for "best use of a licensed song in a game", and I think they invented that award solely to give this moment a mention, pretty awesome stuff.

#24: "I JUST LOST MY F***ING BROTHER


The COGs in Gear take a lot of s*** from the common people they encounter throughout the series. The government has made some unpopular decisions, namely blowing up their own cities, BUT WHATEVER. Point is, whenever gears like Marcus show up, people like to b**** them out. And generally, they just take it. Perhaps because of a bit of guilt for their leaders' decisions.

A little bit after Dom's Death, Ice-T I MEAN GRIFFIN goes off on Marcus for his people's deaths during a mission Marcus just did. Marcus is done taking it, he snaps at Griffin, telling him HE JUST LOST HIS BROTHER. A very tense and awesome exchange between 2 great characters.

#23: My Dragon Moment

Skyrim isn't really a scripted enough game, and doesn't really have a strong enough story to have tons of great moments (though dark brotherhood does have some great misisons, none made THIS LIST OMG). Anyway, I'm choosing this spot to talk about how easy it is to have your own unique moment in Skyrim. I think everyone has one, something random but cool that happened while playing (including FLYING MAMMOTHS), this is mine.

I'm traveling somewhere when a dragon attacks. I'm low on potions, and don't feel like fighting, so I decide to see if I can run. It's not working. The dragon pursues me. Augh... things get worse. TWO MORE DRAGON APPEAR. WHY ARE THERE THREE DRAGONS CHASING ME. All of a sudden, I seem to catch a lucky break, I see a giant and a mammoth fighting one of the dragons for me. HELL YEAH. I use this opportunity to start fighting the other dragons, teaming with the giant and mammoth to take them all out... then they start attacking me! I run my ass away and barely escape with my life. A completely unscripted yet awesome moment. Skyrim's occasional randomness, especially with dragons, means that almost everyone ends up with their own story like this.

#22: Drake in the Desert


Some people don't like this, but I thought it was pretty cool. This is literally a 10+ minute section where you do nothing but wander through the desert. Most games with a moment like this just cop out real quick (like UC2's drake in the snowy area). UC3 opts to go all out, and keep you in this area for over 10 minutes, which in video game time, kind of feels like 2 days real life.

Because of this, this moment becomes effective. After a bit, I began to feel a little isolated and desperate, just like Drake. They do a good job of sucking you in if you choose not to just be bored by it.

It gets ruined a little bit when he magically comes back to full strength when a fight starts, but WHATEVER, it was cool and different while it lasted.

If a Shadows of the Damned story doesn't get the top spot I will be surprised and disappoint.

10. That time in Saints Row 3 when I took my Jet Bike 2 miles up in the air and jumped off and landed on a fat hooker.

9. That time in Saints Row 3 when I decided to go in the hole instead of taking the torch.

8. That time in Saints Row 3 when I realized that Angel was voiced by Hulk Hogan.

7. That time in Saints Row 3 when my friend and I were cruising the streets and I decided to veer off into the river and torpedo him out into the ocean.

6. That time in Saints Row 3 when I pretended to be the STAG Commander and accidentally called a bunch of people blokes to blow my cover (my guy's British).

5. That time in Saints Row 3 when Pierce asked me if I was seriously going to listen to Kinzie and pass on stealing a STAG tank.

4. That time in Saints Row 3 when Pierce and I stole that STAG tank and pretended to lose contact with Kinzie over our walkie-talkies.

3. That time in Saints Row 3 when my friend and I were doing co-op Insurance Fraud and this one car hit us and we both ragdolled about two city blocks down the street.

2. That time in Saints Row 3 when I turned into a toilet and shot a bunch of hackers with my Mega Buster.

1. That time in Saints Row 3 when I first met Burt Reynolds.

#21: Giant Wheel Chase


Easily my favorite part about Bulletstorm. You end up LITERALLY driving away from a giant friggin wheel. There is hectic shooting throughout, and eventually you have to knock it over by hitting gas cans near the wheel. It's fun, intense, and epic.

#20: Varric Goes Badass


I enjoyed the fact that Varric is the one telling the story throughout Dragon Age 2. This is the best usage of that little storytelling gimmick. You are about to confront Varric's brother, when all of a sudden, you are playing as Varric and Varric alone. This is really confusing at first. Even more confusing when all of a sudden varric has about 10x the power and is just DOMINATING FOOLZ. Then I just let go and had a blast destroying everyone. It is of course revealed to be a LIE, but oh well, a totally surprising, hilarious, and fun moment.

#19: Jensen confronts Taggert


Taggert is a doucher. All game I just wanna punch that dude, and then finally, later on, you get to VERBALLY PUNCH HIM. Just as good.

The interrogation stuff in the game is really fun, but this is easily the best one. The usual tenseness of these conversations is amplified by the fact that this is happening on live tv and in front of an audience, having crowd reactions in response to your statements is awesome, and this moment basically made me want to find a way to interrupt a press conference one day. SWEET moment

#18: Crazy Skydiving Battle


It's nuts that this is one of the first missions in the game. It involves shooting tons of dudes while skydiving, avoiding crates in the air, and shooting out the plane of a window so you can go through it. Just epic, awesome, and fun. The crazy part is, I had already watched this whole scene from some preview stuff, yet it was still awesome.

#16: Epic Subway Fight


Modern Warfare 3 has great pacing throughout the 1P, and some set piece moments that rival Uncharted, but this is definitely the best one from the game. You chase after a subway on a truck, tons of SHOOTING, a moment with civilians, some near misses, then an awesome crash at the end. This is some of the best of CoD right here.

#15: Chainsaw... WHAT THE F***!


This might be because I'm a (former) wrestling fan, but this was easily the most hilarious and awesome moment in all of SR3 for me, a game with many of those moments. This is a mission where you participate in a wrestling match, and for the most part, it is progressing like a stereotypical wrestling match. You are using crazy items to fight off interference, etc. Later on though, Angel is down and is in trouble... the boss calls for an item from the crowd.... "A CHAINSAW? WHAT THE F****?". YES. HE HAS A CHAINSAW. HE JUST GOT A CHAINSAW. HE REVS IT, HE IS LITERALLY CUTTING PEOPLE IN HALF! I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING OMG YE SYES YES *explodes*

#14: Climb to the Final Boss


This is how you build up anticipation for a final boss. An epic ladder climb INTO SPACE, sweet music playing, awesome visuals in the background. I remember just being blown away the first time I climbed that ladder. Unfortunately, I ended up doing it another 5 times before I beat the boss, but that first time up was one of my favorite moments of the year.

#13: Dr. Malkov's Death


I love the youtube comments on this one. Most of the moments on here are either wowed me, excited me, or made me laugh. This is the one though, that pissed me off, but in a good way. You've been on a long journey to save the human race, and Dr. Malikov is the key to that. After fighting off countless aliens, his journey ends via a human, someone he is trying to save. This was an incredibly effective storytelling moment, and seriously made me angry, which is awesome.

I haven't played Resistance 3, aside from the MP beta. I never even finished the first Resistance. Couldn't get into it - felt too dated compared to other modern shooters.

#12: The Fair Scene

This is that big REVEAL moment in the game, where you discover how your client met his wife, why he wants to go to the moon, etc. The music that plays during it gives extra weight to the scene, and it managed to be both beautiful and really sad at the same time. Pretty good stuff, seriously check this game out.
