I would be interested to know the answer to this as well.
I know Pioneer (or someone) was going to do like a re-translation/dub of every season at one point, but I don't think that ever happened.

short answer - no

long answer - the company that purchased the licenses for the series didn't choose to renew it when it ran out so the reason it's going to be out of print everywhere you check (and no new editions will be coming out) is because right now nobody has the rights to distribute it


HOWEVER

if you're interested in the manga, another company just purchased the rights to it again very recently. vol 1 +2 of the manga and the series Codename: Sailor V were released not too long ago and as far as I know there are plans to release all 12 volumes of the manga (3rd volume comes out later this month, 17th I think) as well as both volumes of Codename: Sailor V (both already out)

Sailor V takes place over the year before the actual Sailor Moon series starts

If I may, you can obtain anime that is unlicensed for distribution in the US (such as Sailor Moon currently) online and usually without any legal action being taken against you, call me old fashioned.

Darn... I really want to watch them and I don't like watching things on my computer.

I saw the manga on Amazon, did the show follow it pretty closely? I can get my library to order those if they're any good. I don't want to buy anything unless it's the show on dvd!

The show actually adds a lot of filler but doesn't change too much of the main storyline content. The manga is really much, much less of a monster of the week and more of things happening and the plot advancing at a constant pace.

To give a good example, the first volume of the manga has a main character introduced in every single chapter (Sailor Moon in 1 obviously, Ami in 2, Rei in 3, Tuxedo Mask in 4, and Jupiter in 5). In comparison, the anime doesn't introduce Ami until episode 8. Most anime series adapt 2 manga chapters per episode. So yeah, it has some of the slowest adaptation pacing of almost any anime/manga combination I know of! That said, since it doesn't change many things, one way to think of it is that with the anime you're just getting 'more'.

You should also check out Codename: Sailor V if they have it. It's really enjoyable as a companion piece to the main series or just if you like Sailor Venus (aka the best main sailor scout). Plus, since none of the stuff from it is shown in the anime you'd want to read it anyway even if you were just watching the series.

The show and the main manga series basically start things from Sailor Moon's point of view as she gets her powers and starts gathering Mercury, Mars, and Jupiter into a team. While this is going on though, there is mentions of another Sailor Scout (Sailor V) who is also operating alone - They hear rumors about her and stuff but don't meet her for a while. Sailor V (who later becomes Sailor Venus) actually gets her powers and works with Artemis for some time before Sailor Moon even meets Luna, which is the point of view that is shown from Codename: Sailor V.
