PixelJunk Shooter is the most popular and well-regarded series in the PixelJunk line. It is a 2d game where you traverse a planet's core to rescue survivors from previous missions. Your ship doesn't have health but rather an overheat bar that will cause you to crash and burn if it's full unless you are lucky and fall into water. You have some sort of gun, missiles (which cause your overheat bar to rise), and a grapple to grab onto objects, such as a sponge to absorb water or lava and breakable ceilings/walls. You will come across stations that will temporarily allow you to shoot lava or water, which in turn help you clear areas and find treasures, which are optional, and survivors.

Stacking is a puzzle-action game about Russian stacking dolls where you complete objectives by stacking, unstacking, or combining unique abilities that each type of stacking doll has. These include, but aren't limited to, throwing bananas, flying to bird nests, farting, seducing men, and throwing money on the ground. Each puzzle has multiple ways of solving it, giving you opportunity to either come up with every solution right away or wait until later since you only required to get one solution for each objective.

Costume Quest is basic RPG that oozes so much charm where you assume the role of children out on Trick-or-Treat night and your costumes to rescue a kidnapped sibling. Your costumes "come to life" in battle and you can swap them out and acquire more during the course of the game.

My order of recommendation is:
1. Costume Quest (this is saying a lot for someone who doesn't care for RPGs as a whole)
2. PixelJunk Shooters
3. Stacking

I don't know what the prices for the Double Fine games are normally since I got them + their DLC on sale during the summer. I also got PixelJunk Shooter for free, so I don't know it's cost either but I paid $10 for PixelJunk Shooter 2

I don't know your preferences for gaming, but if lack of length is an issue for you, you may not like the games as much as I did. I don't know if any of the games took me more than 10 hours to beat, though the jury is still out for PixelJunk Shooter 2

Neat, I'll go look for demos later. And honestly, the length of a game has never been an issue for me, as long as it's an enjoyable experience.
