Not true. Troy was doing far more than people realize. Just because he wasn't making splash plays doesn't mean he wasn't playing good. Look at the season where Troy missed considerable playing time. Clark was pretty bad then.

but troy also gave up a lot more big plays this year. Troy is a 50/50 player. He makes sick plays, but he also misses tackles here and there, and gambles a lot with his instincts. He deserves almost all the praise he gets, but he also deserves some criticism that he rarely gets.

When troy isnt making big plays though, its a concern. Because thats his style. Hes a gambler. Smart gambler due to his top level instincts, but nevertheless a gambler.

read the whole article. Its saying that a lot of taylor's success has been questionable. I like taylor, hes one of the most underrated CBs in the league. But clark had a better year than him

PFF apparently has Brandon Browner ranked higher than Ike Taylor in their stats when that article was written. And gave Ike a negative grade for his performance against Wes Welker. I'm not really finding it that credible when Brandon Browner is ranked higher than him.

do you have a link for that? I dont recall PFF ever putting Browner ahead of ike. Maybe as a FANTASY idp....which id agree with since ike has stone hands and doesn't get ints.

Look in the comments.

Anyways, agree to disagree. I agree with you that Clark has probably had the best year of his career. But if we lose to Denver it won't be because we are without him. It will be because we our offense is inept inside the red zone, and we don't force turnovers.

fair enough, although i dont think clark would be the ONLY reason. But it would be a factor.

the steelers offense when healthy has been better than the defense this year. At least more consistent.

The key part imo. 100% healthy steelers win here. Ben clearly hasn't been close to full power lately and won't be by gametime. RB situation seems pretty iffy too.

I hear all this talk about Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees as MVPs but if I had a ballot, I would put Eli Manning ahead of both of them

If your NCAA Games II ballots are any indication, it's a good thing you don't have a ballot for anything...!

I am not one of those people who values gaudy stats over all else. I take the MVP as the actual Most Valuable Player and I think that Eli Manning exhibited that to his team this year than Rodgers and Brees for their respective teams. If either win it, then I understand because they are worthy. I just think that Eli is a better candidate

i do think stafford deserves consideration

threw for 5000 yards (despite brady and brees' numbers, that's still a big ****ing deal) and got the ****ing lions into the playoffs

i think i would vote for him

I think it's almost impossible to determine who the most valuable player is between Rodgers/Brees/Brady/Stafford. Like, total tossup. But it's not Eli.

Still a total atrocity that Stafford wasn't voted into the pro bowl.

Stafford should almost certainly win Comeback Player of the Year but MVP is a bit of a stretch because of Calvin Johnson's impact.

None of the best QBs right now are throwing to total nobodies, though. Although to be fair, in some cases you could argue that they're only not nobodies because of their QB. From that standpoint my gut feeling is that Brees is the most valuable, but it's close.

don't have a problem with that really, that's incredibly stiff competition

he probably should have gotten the nod ahead of eli but either one is understandable. eli had a comparable year in every category but TDs without having megatron.

Eli had a great year, don't get me wrong, but Stafford had a monstrous one. The only argument I can really put forth in favor of Eli is that the Giants are the worst rushing team in the league so it was all on his arm, but at the end of the day the Giants' offense simply wasn't even close to being as prolific as the Lions', so I have a hard time accepting Eli over Stafford.

Eli had Hakeem Nicks, Mario Manningham and Victor Cruz

i.e. one of the strongest WR corps in the entire league

nobody is throwing to megatron though

brady and brees kind of cheesed stats with the welker/TE and sproles/TE combos. if brady was really having a historically good year he would have gotten ochocinco involved. both guys made a lot of short, safe, pretty much unstoppable throws. that's not a bad thing, but it does make me give rodgers and eli credit for throwing downfield a lot more. stafford is the same but a lot of those downfield throws were just thrown in the general vicinity of megatron, who turned them into TDs.

Stafford looked pretty good yeah

Eli, I dunno, he put up big yards but 29 TDs with a good receiving corps after 4900 yards... ehhhh. The only worthwhile win they had all season was the Pats game and Eli was really mediocre against a historically poor defense for all but 5 minutes.

the only impact manningham made on a giants game this season was dropping the game winning TD pass against the cowboys so it took the giants longer to score and gave the cowboys less time to answer

i can name at least 15 better third receivers but i'm also really lazy

did you see Ochocinco this year? Brady's best wideout is the tattered remains of Deion Branch. though I don't think I agree with the nature of your analysis of the QB position in general.

years of playing madden have taught me that it's simple to throw for 500 yards a game by abusing crossing routes to the TE and screen passes to the RB

Do they still have the Patriot Screen in which the y-button receiver is like always open for 19 yards? Troy Brown was good for like 400 yards a game
