At World's End was garbage. Dead Man's Chest is only a slight step above. And for all its failings (like introducing what's supposed to be an intimidating villain and having him go nowhere), On.Stranger Tides is at least watchable. You literally could not pay me to sit through AWE a fourth time. First time I watched it I got confused and was not impressed. Second time I fell asleep. Third time I stomached through it and it had not gotten any better since the first time I watched it. After that I gave up on it.

I agree with the ranking. Jack didn't have much to do in the 4th movie, his character was kind of frozen and aimless, plus the supporting cast wasn't as good. Still an okay flick though, pirates arrr

(By cast I mean characters, of course Ian McShane is hella talented)

Jack was "frozen" because Jack had already experienced his character growth over the previous movies. He is who he is. That's not going to change by the 4th go around.

No, it wouldn't make sense and it'd be a completely awful idea. It's been shown throughout the series that Jack's swagger is slightly misplaced, such as being slapped by the wenches, Elizabeth's indifference towards him, etc.

Except he wasn't. Quite the opposite, he was being railroaded down a path he wasn't completely comfortable with. You can see his general uneasiness with the situation throughout, compared to previous movies where he goes the way he feels until someone gets wind of his little plan. It's a completely different approach to his character.

Think about it, the free wheeling Jack Sparrow now tethered to an undesirable path. He has no real chance to reason/trick his way out the situation.

Yes, we have different opinions on how interesting or not interesting the movie is, but hey that's more interesting than the movie maybe.

As for Jack's lack of swagger or whatnot, he could've gotten laid but he's like eeey I don't want to, so if his character has a sex drive it's very confusing. His motivations are pretty lacking in the movie in general, he's a lost man lost in a pointless script, but that's just my take.

Because, as he says himself, he actually CARES for Angelica. his feelings for her are completely different, as he routinely shows concern about her well-being throughout the movie. That's completely different from getting down with a random wench.

I'm referring to when she wants to get jiggy and he's like I'm outta here son. Ha but anyways thats just one point on how Jack is not nearly as Jack as usual in part 4, he's like family friendly Jack or something.

But I think our Siskel and Ebert different takes on the film make for a good show.

That could describe yourself as well, or anybody, nobody's opinion is gonna be changed by this kind of pointless thing yes. If you approach in a better way it could work as a conversation, but you really aren't gelling with what I'm putting down here.

If you think what we'd be talking about is explaining Jack's motivations in the film, then yes I agree that it could easily be explained. I'm not saying the flimsy plot doesn't explain everything. But honestly I don't feel like you two even get my complaint is if you think explanation of the plot is where to take the conversation.
