I got 1992, and I could have cheated like a motherf***er - T.R.O.Y. came out that year, as did virtually every landmark grunge song, and The Lemonheads' cover of "Mrs. Robinson", just to name a few.

Instead, I'm going to go with a different cover - Ann and Nancy Wilson (Heart) appeared on the soundtrack to the movie Singles in 1992 with this cover of Led Zeppelin's "The Battle of Evermore", performing under the name "The Lovemongers"

I'd rather recommend a more 'popular' (considering 5+ or so of these folks listen to pretty different music I doubt they've heard much Sonic Youth) song that's good than a lesser known one just for the heck of it!

Besides, I'm not knowledgable at all on the year 1991! It'd be silly to recommend something off Nevermind/Blood Sugar Sex Magik/RATM (because those are records everyone has heard) so yeah.

Doesn't your music library allow you to sort it by year? Even iTunes lets you do that. Once you sort it by year, it's just a matter of scanning the songs and picking one!
