The first one just had more polish and a much grander, epic design. 2 is almost as good, but at times it feels a bit like "Mario Galaxy: The Stuff We Didn't Have Time To Put Into The First One", which is exactly what it started out as. Currently having a lot of fun with 3D Land. The main quest was way too easy, but the challenge does ramp up. Also: Best final boss in Mario history? Maybe. -- Signature change in progress...
