It's probably better to get a spindown d20 for Magic. It has the numbers in order so it's easier to use. Actual d20s are scattered all over the place.

Yeah there are D20s designed for Magic and similar card games. I used one for D&D, but there are people out there who wouldn't approve of that because it's probably less random.

If you're playing DnD with people who you're afraid are cheating on the die rolls you probably shouldn't be playing DnD with them anyway.

But yeah, getting a starter dice kit for DnD is always nice. So many choices! One of the people I played with had these tiny, tiny dice that would always take him a few seconds to read after he rolled it. Created suspense for us while he hunched over them. =P

My old roommates and I rolled a twenty-sided die to see who would get first, second, etc. choice of rooms in a suite we were moving into.

Oh I just preferred using them over coins (even heads and odd tails or something).

The order on the die does not make it any more or less random.

Damage counters and/or coin replacements. Dice are favored to coins and damage counters by 99% of the players.

Not if you're rolling fairly, no. But with all the high numbers on one half of the die and all the low numbers on the other, it can be pretty easy to throw a cheaty fake roll and have it land on the high side. A normal d20 has the high and low numbers all mixed up next to each other, so it's pretty much impossible to do that with any effectiveness.

If you're going to cheat might as well get a 1-less 20 that has a 2nd 20 instead of a 1.

I really cant imagine why anyone would want to cheat at a table top game.
