Need some fresh jRPGs and I was wondering if these were any good, especially right now that they're on sale.

Also, is there a B8 Steam group?

Recettear is really cool.

Haven't played Chantelise, I fell pretty guilty about that.

Recettear is very good.

I bought Chantelise earlier today and played it for around half an hour. I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I enjoyed Recettear. Combat has moved to 3D, and is worse for it. I feel like I haven't played it enough to make a definitive judgement, but Chantelise feels like a step back from Recettear.

Both games have demos as well.

Recettear is great. Chantelise is decent, but nowhere near as good as Recettear. I'd say Recettear is a must-play, just because of how unique it is.

Chantelise is kinda button-mashy. The bosses are surprisingly tough, and definitely the highlight of the game, but outside of the bosses, the gameplay gets old pretty fast, as you have to clear each area of all enemies before moving on. Also, it is borderline unplayable without a gamepad. I could say it's only 2 bucks, so why not, but during Steam sales, that reasoning can cost you a lot of money.

Chantelise was made before Recettear.

Oh, really? I'd remembered hearing that Recettear was getting a sequel at some point and assumed that Chantelise was it. Good to know I was mistaken.

Yeah, Chantelise is a step backward because it was made first.

Anyway, both are worth playing imo. Recettear is great overall and Chantelise is good for the bosses (which are extremely well designed) and trying to figure out the secrets and stuff.

The game you probably heard of, Territoire, isn't out yet in Japanese, but it will be a hybrid Civilization-like and SRPG game apparently.

Heh. Tell me about it. There's not much else that interests me this time, though. Just got Portal 2, and Trine. That's pretty much it. it's not like I can play a lot of games on my laptop anyway.
