Edgeworth is a big Steel Samurai fan, so I buy it.

I think these Edgeworth games and movies and crossovers are just them trying to buy time, hoping to distance themselves from AJ's release so it won't be such a big deal if they decide the next game ignores AJ's existence. I was just using going back to Phoenix as an example of something they could get away with after a long enough hiatus. I, too, would want a new main character who isn't Apollo Justice, and preferably isn't completely overshadowed by a previous character like Apollo was.

I honestly like Apollo as a character. He just needed a game entirely to himself so he could develop and not be in Phoenix's shadow.

I don't like Apollo. He's cut from that young, passionate but dumb cloth that too many Japanese video game heroes come from. I mean I know he's in his early twenties or whatever, but I'd forgive anyone who's played the game for assuming he's another Franziska von Improbablyyoungattorney before looking at his official age.

I pretty much agree entirely with Leon about Apollo.
I'm a little less bedazzled by PW3's ending, though; I generally wasn't as pleased as I could have been with the post-Dahlia stuff. Maybe that's why I seem a little less big on the game than most of B8? Apollo is alright. There are just two big problems with him. Right now, he's Phoenix Wright Lite. He is just way too similar to being Phoenix, but he doesn't have the emotional draw that Phoenix has. They need to do something about his character imho.
Another thing is that he has zero development. Klavier and Hobonix pretty much guided Apollo to victory in all of Apollo Justice and he hasn't done anything for himself. Well, I don't mind Apollo being Phoenix-lite in the first game, but yeah, he needs some proper development of his own. It's just strange how little development he actually gets. Phoenix Wright was essentially a fully developed character by the end of the first game. PW1 can essentially stand on its own without needing the other games to complete his character.

Everyone says he's Phoenix-lite, but I just don't see it. Phoenix's inner commentary is always snarky and kind of cranky and dickish. Apollo's is just generally softer and nicer most of the time, I think. I don't particularly like it.

Phoenix and Apollo are both pretty sarcastic and uptight in a lot of their inner monologue (such as getting upset at Maya/Trucy for suggesting doing something illegal or immoral). They're very "by the book," which is to be expected since they're lawyers.

I think Phoenix reacts to the craziness of the world with more snark, while Apollo reacts to it with more deadpan. It is somewhat two takes on a similar idea. I like both well enough though. Phoenix just has more actual development, even in his first game.

I generally consider AJ's cast to be a bit boring, mostly because Capcom for some reason gives you less extra dialogue from presenting things to witnesses and stuff, which is one of my favorite aspects of the PW games (AAI's a little guilty of this as well, but it's a bit better than AJ).
