I'm not sure I want new Engi weapons! I'm JUST NOW starting to get the hang of using the Wrangler in competitive play and now I have to figure out a whole bunch of other s***?

That flamethrower looks amazing. TMP thinks it'll be radically different from the original flamethrower, only time will tell for sure though!

The Eureka Effect
On alt-fire: Teleport to buildings
Cannot carry buildings

The Instant Teleport was a scrapped secondary weapon for the Engineer. It would give him the ability to instantly teleport to his Teleporter exit, allowing him to immediately return to his buildings, assuming that the exit was near them and in case he needed to quickly attend to them.

The Instant Teleport was cut from further development because players had a tendency to place Teleporter exits in spots that benefited them more than the rest of the team, breaking the idea of team gameplay. It also eliminated much of the risk of Engineers leaving their building nest alone to gather materials, thereby creating a balance issue.

To be fair, this wrench teleports to the spawn, so the Engie still puts teleporters where the team needs them, and still has to incur a risk for leaving his nest.

5gorge doesn't count since it was originally gorge.

But yeah the last 5cp had to be Badlands, but to be fair, there have been tons of A+ community 5cp maps, so there hasn't really been a need for a new 5cp.... but Badlands is the best 5cp map by far. If this is anywhere near as good as that or even Granary, this will be a great addition to the game.

New map is surprisingly small, or at least, feels that way. Feels like a smaller fastlane, with a focus on 45 degree angles. It's very stalematey, but that might be because of extra engies and pyros, the two classes that don't really push super well.

I went ahead and bought the item pack because I am a crazy person.

New flamethrower: pretty cool. The Mmmph meter fills up very easy, and when you use it, you have to watch yourself do a taunt for a few seconds, but you get a full heal and about 8 seconds of crits by my estimate. No airblast on the weapon though, so you're pretty much stuck running around with a flamethrower and hoping nobody targets you, because crits or not, you'll probably be defenseless.

New flare gun: Well, it's a flare gun that doesn't crit flaming targets, so it's pretty weak. On the other hand, it can extinguish teammates for free, and when you do, you get a free crit on your next shot. But you probably can extinguish with your main. And anyway, one free crit isn't amazing, the flare gun will give you crits for every hit after the first pretty much! Also, the extinguishing has a very short range so it's hard to chase your teammates down and blow em out. It's pretty much all downsides here, unless you're using the new flamethrower, but it's interesting.

New axe: Didn't get to try it out. It's interesting but I never take out my melee as a pyro besides axtinguisher stings, and I don't even like those. I like to play the class brainlessly. Anyway, when a medic is healing someone, they're usually close enough to get hit by flames anyway, don't need to pull out some super axe.

New engy shotgun: Well if you're trying to do damage to someone who is at close or mid range, the pistol is just plain better. If you want to spam something at long range, you now have that option. As for the side effects that hurt spies and medics, I guess I can't really say much about how rough it is. It might be really brutal since these penetrating lasers usually hit targets 2-3 times as they pass through. When I'm messing around trying to program my own games and stuff, I usually realize that penetrating projectiles are impossible to balance, so I'm surprised Valve's using them, but then again I think they're taking the randomness into account.

New engy wrench: I don't play defensive engy much but I imagine this is a game changer and the most important addition of the entire update.

Easiest exploits ever

The Phlogistinator: Normally, alt-fire causes you to taunt and receive your crits/health. Jumping skips the taunt animation.

Frontier Justice: Get at least one revenge crit, use it. Suddenly, infinite crits.

If you jump and deploy in air, there's no taunt, and if you do the taunt, you keep healing and get damage reduction while taunting. Doing damage while critting increases the meter too, so you can extend it, and if it gets full again you can m2 for more health.

It's not as bad as the original Rift weapons, which were unattainable for a month unless you bought the game. Of course, they sucked, but that's besides the point.

Impulse bought Spycicle for 2 refined from some rando in a server 5 minutes after the update. This thing is SO awesome. The fireproof effect is like a free DR, AND I get to keep my IW. But I don't think I would use it if it wasn't for those HELLA AWESOME ice statues.... man, they will never get old.

Foundry is a really cool map too imo. It reminds me of Snakewater or Fastlane in terms of gameplay. Pretty unique design with all the little alcoves and corners, though, that makes it different from other 5cp maps. Good addition to the game for sure compared to something like Barnblitz, which, while being a good payload map, is still a payload map.

Also I don't know if I've hit the drop limit or I am not doing it right or anything but I haven't been getting drops while text mode idling after the update. I think I've just hit the drop limit though... got like 12 items. I need to text mode idle though because for the next month I won't have access to my good PC to play games.... glad I got some Spycicle time in early though.
