Board 8 > Who are the best Knights/Generals in the Fire Emblem series?

I almost always tend not to use these units. Although they have great defense, that's easily sliced topped by Armor Slayers or Hammers, and I don't like the really low speed and movement.

However, I do remember Oswin from FE7 being very good. Any others?

Uh, Gatrie I think? And maybe Amelia if you make her one, though I recall her being better off as a Paladin.

But yeah, I generally don't use Armored Knights much.

No one from FE1-6 really. Altho Doga and Bors aren't terrible.

Oswin is incredible and Wallace wasn't terrible. Maps were mostly small in FE7 which helped that class.

FE8's Gilliam was pretty solid.

Gatrie from FE9 can be decent-ish...


FE10 Taureneo (sp?) was likely the best from 10. Him or Gatrie. Meg had kinda bizarre stats and wasn't likely to get trained.

Basically.

It's Oswin. Dude is the best of his class by a great deal. FE11 had some wacky stuff with Wolf and Sedgar as Generals but they aren't really generals.

Brom would be the best choice from FE9, since his speed is quite a bit better than Gatrie's and is still a beast on strength and defense. Statistically he's one of the best if you give him the knight ward for speed level ups, but with the tiny enemy density and high average defense for your party he's still not that useful compared to more mobile characters.

Using a general or two in the higher difficulties of Shadow Dragon can be very helpful. Most people would recommend Wolf and Sedgar for that, but there's a bunch of characters that can work. Makes the game a lot easier if you aren't warp-skipping. The only natural general that's any good is Dolph, though, and he comes rather late to be useful for tanking. And I guess Horace but only on a temporary basis, his growths are Jeigan-like.

Oswin and FE10 Gatrie are probably the two best in the games I've played, although I think Bors (FE6) is a touch underrated sometimes (still not anything amazing). I really don't care for most of the rest.

Hector is a general in FE6, which means I can technically claim Hector even though I'm using the Lord version in FE7.

Hector is a terrible General, though! Vastly inferior to Paladin Eliwood.

Eliwood wishes they'd kept their relative quality as units in FE7, though...!

I think there are even multiple translations to choose from for FE6! The one I have uses slightly different names for some characters compared to the guides I look at

Finding as translated FE6 is about as easy as finding a translated Mother 3.

I don't know how easy it is to find Mother 3, but I'm gonna guess pretty easy.

As for Generals, I'll vote FE10 Gatrie. I don't use Generals much either, but I decided to try Gatrie on my last FE10 playthrough and holy CRAP did he own everything.
