Imo the best villain in any Final Fantasy title. None, tmk, were as personal to the main protagonist as Sephiroth was with Cloud. He ****s with Cloud's psyche pretty well.

Yeah, Sephiroth's a good villain. I've come to appreciate what he brings to FFVII more in recent years than I used to.

I think that despite Sephiroth being one of the most hated character on Board 8, in my time here I have yet to see someone give legitimate reasoning for disliking him. I could understand if his character or his manner just didn't jive with you, but the moment you start spewing "lol momma's boy" or "girl hair" as reasoning I just don't take you seriously anymore.

He's not as entertaining as either of Exdeath or Kefka. He does villainous things with little to no endearing personality that makes him unique or interesting.

Seifer is a very complex villain/rival.

He might not have been the "Big Bad" of ff8, but I still think he was more compelling than Seph.

I don't HATE seph mind you. I just don't consider him to be best villain ever status.

Eh. I just don't think that he's that great of a character. I used to, but then I kinda...grew out of it, I guess.

The whole "do bad things and carry a big sword" doesn't impress me anymore.

I don't like his character, but I do like the sense of dread you feel.

You see the results of all these things he has done like impaling the the giant snake and killing people before you actually see him, let alone fight him.


That said, I voted for Snake.

He makes for a great atmosphere while playing the game...but once it ends he just didn't leave much of an impression on me. He was always more style than substance to me. It just seemed like his depth, while existent, never quite matched his presentation. I mean his presentation was done so well that...pretty much anything they could have made for his character/backstory fell flat.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of his backstory either.

But the mind games with Cloud, the way he manages to dominate Disc 1 despite the fact you barely see him at all, and all that make me respect him as a villain. He contributes to FFVII's atmosphere in a very good way.

I'd hardly call Final fantasy Joker, "unique". Or endearing. Dissidia especially made a good job of making me fed up of his so craaazy random act.

Sephiroth is awesome in the original. Just a badass unlike no other. Then this Lance Bass dude showed up and it all took a nosedive.

Except Kuja, I guess, who pretty much has the same motivation.

The game as whole though is painfully mediocre, which I think rubs off on Sephiroth for me.

You know that's why a lot of people like him. Back when people here were kids they probably weren't drawn to Seph because of his backstory or his character. They liked him because he was a "bad ass."
