Shift-queueing is what makes me think that I should move my item hotkeys. Right now they're Alt+QWEASD but I have a feeling there's a better option, since Shift+Alt+stuff is just awkward to hit. And apparently Alt+hotkey toggles autocast on skills like Drow's Frost Arrows.

Considering how rarely I use control groups (e.g. never except for Chen/Enigma) ... maybe I should move them to 1-6. Probably should do it before I get too used to them where they are. Baah.

Just put them at 1-6 and put your usable items in the top 3 slots so you only have to use 1-3 or 4

I never use hotkeys for items. Skills yeah, but never items. I have to reserve my hotkeys for micro management and I've always been able to adjust my inventory to make it easy enough to use my items.

I never shift queue skills either.

I have hotkeys for my items, and I only really ever shift queue with Sand King.

Is there a way to keep your hero from auto attacking everything? It makes last hitting a pain when my hero goes out of his way just to autoattack.

There's a setting in the options... not sure how it works exactly since I've never tried it. I've heard people complaining it makes chasing heroes a bit harder at times, but that's all secondhand information.

For last hitting you can just tap 'S' to cancel the attack command... it's all I do.

I constantly move back and forth to stop auto attacking. I like to think it also makes me harder to hit with skill shots, so that's a plus.

I've got auto attack turned off. Rapid cancel right clicks with S for dat precision last hitting.

I have 2 users in steam,everyday I check both mails EVER SINCE IT WAS POSSIBLE TO SIGNUP and still no beta key...I don't even think Valve knows I exist even though they sent me that hardware test...ever since,nothing -_-

So I beg anyone here...can someone give me a beta key?

Everyone needs to make an autoexec.cfg file with this in it:

dota_force_right_click_attack 1
dota_disable_range_finder 0
chat_join "Board 8"

The first line enables right-click denies, the second adds range indicators (still kinda a work-in-progress), and the last one will help us find each other for games. Put the file in:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\dota 2 beta\dota\cfg

You don't want to be spamming moves in your lane on creeps. You want to harass heroes, but you always want their creeps on your tower, without your tower actually dying.

You know there are items specifically made for each type of hero right? Strength items for strength heroes, etc. I'm not sure if you know that or not. You actually play really well for someone who hasn't played much. I don't play Windrunner much myself, so I'm not sure on the best build. Linkens is probably good against stuns. Orchid is probably great. She's low on hp, so something that can give you hp and damage simultaneously is probably good, like a sheep stick.

Windrunner can be played in so many different roles it's hard to tell you good items for her. She's one of THE most versatile heroes in the game which is why you see her picked so often in competitive play.

I prefer Phase Boots on all builds of Windrunner. They can help you chase up to someone to land the Shackle to secure a kill, and combined with Windrun it makes you really hard to catch as well. Also gives you a good chunk of damage on your ultimate. If you are having a rough game, Strength Treads can help you stay alive a bit, but generally I go Phase.

She can be played as support, where you pick up Mekansm/Pipe if your other supports can't manage (WR tends to get good farm). Force Staff is also frequently picked up for its utility. I like Eul's since its cheap and gives you enough mana regen to spam your spells. If you're doing well, Sheepstick is a great choice.

WR doesn't need too much in terms of survival since her skills are long range. Force Staff with Windrun lets you get out of a lot of hairy situations. If those two can't get you out of the trouble, it's fairly unlikely that anything else would. If you have Eul's... even more fun.

I never really play carry Windrunner -- it's extremely rare in pubs not to have a better carry than WR on your team. Diffusal Blade is hilarious on Focus Fire but... yeah, don't have much advice for this.

Woah yeah, Oblivion Staff/Orchid is exactly what I need for mid-game. Eul's/Sheepstick are cool for that added disable. I tried Force Staff once but I couldn't get the hang of using it well. I imagine you can save yourself or even pull an enemy hero away from his team if you know how to use it. If I'm going the support route then I love getting the Urn of Shadows as well for healz.

Diffusal Blade looks really good and if I ever play against that Sorcerer or Summoner or whatever I'll go for that, because I hate his demon golem thing. Too much agility though.

But yeah I spam Powershot to harass, not on creeps. Doesn't really matter when your lane buddy is autoattacking though : /

Kinda unfair though, each of these guys has as many (well, maybe half as many) lines as each TF2 character, but there's like 50 as opposed to 9.

I'd suggest turning on the "self-cast on double-click" feature. Then you can just tap the button for Force Staff twice and you'll go sliding in whatever direction you're facing. Great for both chasing and fleeing. You can also save an ally who's being chased. Very versatile item, though it can also really screw things up if someone turns the wrong way right as you're casting it.

You're thinking of Warlock, fyi. Purge is great for slowing any hero, and it can also remove a lot of buffs so it's a great extra disable as well as giving you extra damage.

You do have to pay attention to the active which might be annoying. It gives more damage than Treads and helps you chase/flee, but you're also getting worse attack speed/HP. Phase also prevents you from being blocked by units, so you can use it to counter Shadow Shaman's Wards and other similar things. Both are good boots. I like Phase on WR just since her two main abilities really rely on positioning so she appreciates the extra mobility.

Man I love Axe. He's my go to suicide bomber hero. I always feel like I can just rush everything and as long as my team doesn't suck it always works out.

Silencer? More like amazing hero I always die with because my team abandons me for some reason.

Seriously. That's one thing that always bothered me with Silencer. It's not Sniper I get demolished with when I pick, it's Silencer. Everything that could go wrong, does. It doesn't happen every game, but with him it happens more than any other hero. The games it doesn't happen I demolish people. Hopefully Dota 2 and playing with less random people helps.

Any idea when the patch comes out? I've never cared about the patch time before now so I dunno when it usually goes live.

DK is incredibly Average, but he works as a counter to certain threats.

It gives more of an incentive to grab his ult early now.
