I remember playing some high ranked Guys back in Super and I always wrecked them with my Rose. I had a pretty decent day yesterday though; I don't remember raging too much. Although I did play a Cody that had some really nasty links and some ridiculous pressure. It would have been cool if he wasn't one of those guys that yells stuff at you on the mic once he beats you. Why do people feel the need to do that?

I was going to make a post about this.... It's something I still don't get.

How are the top players SO DAMN CONSISTENT with their play? I know that they're top players for a reason and all that, but I figure after putting hundreds of hours (maybe nearing a thousand now, who knows) into a game, that I would at least be able to play at a consistent level. I mean it's not even the case of just having good days and bad days... I can be doing great in one session, and then start playing a couple hours later and lose 8 times in a row, to TERRIBLE players too. It's so frustrating.

In other news, I finally decided to switch back to Ultra 2 with Rose... My win rate has increased by roughly 50%.

u2 is still way better than u1 for rose.
don't really know why you would use u1 unless you're trying to punish blanka balls.or catch bison kicks/balrog rush punches

It was more of a pride thing than anything. Pretty much everyone picked up Rose after Super came out and they saw how good Ultra 2 was. I used it during Super and dropped it in AE when they added the 1 frame startup. It just felt old-school using Ultra 1 because there really was no one else using it. I can honestly say I've never cared about using what is better... or I probably wouldn't play Rose in the first place.

The only reason I stopped using it was because I came to the realization that I'm not disciplined enough to use it. You can punish almost anything with it. Literally any jump-in on reaction as well as the vast majority of special attacks. The only problem was that I couldn't force myself to just die with an Ultra. It works so often that I'd always feel the need to just throw it out on prediction when I was at low health, rather than just playing smart and finding a real opening.

It's not really U2 that has improved my winrate, it's the fact that I know I don't have "an ace in the hole" to bail me out, so I just play better.

Yeah I wrecked some fools with U1 back in Vanilla but that was so long ago. I think that Rose should be able to connect U1 after a FADC soul reflect.

I went back to the trials after not really touching them since Super came out. I had finished about half for most characters, giving up on anything with tight links or stupid tricks or FADC. Every character I've gone through now I've finished up all but one or two trials, with just the dumbest few stopping me thus far. Feels good to finally be able to FADC into ultras more than 1% of the time at last.

Yeah, I think that's the main problem with it... you literally can't set it up by yourself with anything other than a focus attack. If your opponent plays smart, they never have to get hit by it.
