u2 is still way better than u1 for rose.
don't really know why you would use u1 unless you're trying to punish blanka balls.or catch bison kicks/balrog rush punches


It was more of a pride thing than anything. Pretty much everyone picked up Rose after Super came out and they saw how good Ultra 2 was. I used it during Super and dropped it in AE when they added the 1 frame startup. It just felt old-school using Ultra 1 because there really was no one else using it. I can honestly say I've never cared about using what is better... or I probably wouldn't play Rose in the first place.

The only reason I stopped using it was because I came to the realization that I'm not disciplined enough to use it. You can punish almost anything with it. Literally any jump-in on reaction as well as the vast majority of special attacks. The only problem was that I couldn't force myself to just die with an Ultra. It works so often that I'd always feel the need to just throw it out on prediction when I was at low health, rather than just playing smart and finding a real opening.

It's not really U2 that has improved my winrate, it's the fact that I know I don't have "an ace in the hole" to bail me out, so I just play better.
