Yes, pretty much. You'd become a joke if you did that. Believe it or not, I can make pretty decent arguments. See: Aang vs. Red in the previous MPFC, which I pretty much won for Red because people were too damn lazy to argue for him and post two scans until I went hunting for them.

(PS don't nom people you aren't willing to argue for guys. It's very dumb.)

Steal spells and launch big honking laser beams. If this sounds suspiciously similar to a previous MPFC entrant, it's because it is. The difference is that if you say spells don't carry over round by round they don't.

Kirisame Marisa is one of the main characters from Touhou. She's an "ordinary magician". Her signature attack is the Master Spark which is a giant lightspeed laser. This attack is amplified by a mini-Hakkero which resembles a small octagonal block. The mini-Hakkero is a potent source of magical energy and has the firepower to burn down a mountain. Marisa is from a curtain shooter game so she loves to flood the field with projectiles fired in all directions. Her other attacks include Asteroid Belt, an attack that floods the field with star shaped projectiles. Blazing Star is an attack where she fires Master Spark backwards and uses the acceleration to ram her opponent. Dragon Meteor is an attack where she flings herself high into the air by aiming Master Spark at the ground and rains Master Spark on her opponent. In terms of speed feats, Marisa can fire off Master Spark at an opponent several feet in front of her, fly a few feet into the air and fire another one before the first one hits. She is not capable of faster than light movement, though. In terms of durability, she doesn't get vaporized from moving at near light speed and she can survive the super high temperatures near an artificial sun. Marisa is also highly skilled at dodging projectiles. "Initiative is victory" Marisa has no problems rushing in first.


Basically, lightspeed movement and lasers. No weird abilities.

Yes, but that doesn't make her a good entrant at all. In general it's the out of combat abilities that make the Touhous interesting for MPFC. Everything that happens in boss fights can be dismissed because it massively nerfs or buffs characters. In Marisa's case I'd say it buffs her by a lot for instance.

Almost everything in my Marisa writeup is from actual feats in the manga, from other written works or what the attack looks like in the fighting games. I didn't really use the Marisa boss fights from the danmaku games much at all.

Might as well move my noms and basic descriptions here.

1. Momoyo Kawakami (Maji de Watashi ni Koi Shinasai): Basically a low-level Goku, but can break free of suggestions and hypnosis at will, and can heal instantly. She has access to a self-destruct explosion move, and is perfectly fine after using it. Also has muscle memory, after seeing an opponent move she is able estimate their future movements perfectly. Speed-wise, she's fast enough to flick a bullet back at her opponent, and catch the blade of an opponent who dealt 12 slashes in less than a second, BEFORE memorizing her moves, and while distracted by another enemy on her level. She has a beam attack (of course), and IIRC, can generate a barrier, but I think she has to fully concentrate for the latter though. Best of all, she WILL blitz her opponent in a tournament setting. As in, she'll break their bones right at the start, at the very least.
2. Doraemon (Doraemon series): A robot from the future, has a 4-dimensional pouch on his belly from which he can pull out various tools, such a flashlight that reduces the size of things with it's light, a bag of snacks that will tame any beasts (and a similar one that's an instant laxative), a door that allows him to go anywhere, a hand cannon that shoots out air blasts, a gun that stuns/paralyzes, a cape that reflects ANYTHING. etc.
3. Anti Monitor (DC comics): Been in one. I think this one could probably go to the shredder...
4. Yukari Yakumo (Touhou Project): Her too. Probably this one is shredder worth as well.
5. Matrim Cauthon (Wheel of Time) : Oldie but goodie.
6. Perrin Aybara (Wheel of Time) : Never been in one, IIRC. Basically, he's a good guy Freddy Kreuger. Hell, this guy UNWEAVED Balefire, proof of his control over the dream-world.
7. Ashley Winchester (Wild Arms 2): ARMS user like Rudy, has multiple ammo, but unlike Rudy, this guy can go Henshin into a demon knight with a sword that kills an eldritch abomination that can't die.
8. Misogi Kumagawa (Medaka Box): Kumagawa's All Fiction is broken as hell. Allows him to make anything into fiction (not real)... including his death. AFTER he was killed. Recently, he was also able to keep both his ability (for some reason), so he also can use Book Maker. Basically, forces his own personality upon somebody else.

Shadow King is a disembodied telepathic ghost. He's the one who was responsible for crippling Professor X. They fought on the mental plane, Shadow King literally ate Xavier's astral form. Back in the real world, he screamed a lot and was paralyzed. He can possess people, and makes people more evil just by his being around

That's the catch, ain't it? You can beat him if you're a better telepath than he is (Psylocke has done it). Or by hurting whatever host body he's in at the time. It hurts him too

anyway, some other guys you mentioned ed...

manhunter's 'okay.' he has cooler powers but what holds him back is that he's soft and this is getting worse. that's why black adam works - he ain't. guts is also 'okay,' but personally i have a bunch of guys more interestign than a swordy who gets a chapter once every 3 months or something. there isn't anything new to what he has or has done, so he loses interest to me by default there. he can still put on nice matches matched well, but there's plenty more who can do what he does and better.

somebody you didn't mention though in all that was Naruto. i was double checking entries and he's been in 4 times.
1st contest - jobbed out to Kenshiro. i'm sure this wouldn't happen again.
2nd - Doomsday food.
3rd - lost to somebody from discworld. no idea. anagram contest.
4th - lost to luffy in a close one. both series have since been powered up.

found this interesting considering you mentioned Ichigo and Luffy, the 2nd of which has been in every contest since he first came to play in 2009, and he's won in the past few (the losses are Ipkiss and Flash) at least once in each. invitational was stopped midway through it seems, but he would've beaten Samus too and be in the top 8. including kan's, he's batting .500. the good thing though is he keeps getting new powers. wonder if there's other good one piece reps though. i remember one piece wiki had a bunch of guys with interesting powers.

ichigo really is a lot of the 'one trick pony' issue you had too. it's speed and more speed. there's a beam in there somewhere, but it's comboed with speed. everything about him boils down to speedblitz. he hasn't been in many but that's because he hasn't existed that much in the first place. he's relatively new and all his powerups were relatively new at the time. but that's all he really boils down to.

count on the other guys:
chaos has been in 3. dante's been in... 7/9 that he coule be eligible for. ...that's a lot of dante, and he usually won a match or two along the way. kratos in comparison yeah, has only been in 3. and lost most of 'em in round 1. ammy's been in very few. but i think that goes with ammy being weird in the first place. samus has been in all that she could be in. loses in round 1 more often.

screw black doom. nobody has a problem with juggy's peak either. but he tends to lose by ring out is his problem. if you can't do that, you're probably losing. jack's issue is that he's inconsistent and a one trick pony. nanoha's in the same boat as guts. and sora... just kinda sucks is all. reaction commands is what a lot of it boils down to, and if you don't quite buy that and see it as a gameplay element (because that's what most of 'em are - even talking is a reaction command) you get the result he's had. round 1 losses to even low-mid guys.

As I recall, the problem with Juggernaut's peak is that at that point, he might as well be Cyttorak. He becomes his 100% possessed avatar

there's 3 juggy forms that have been mentioned. 1) Trion Juggy. this was fine in anagram's iirc, but not in some others. that's the full avatar one that punches through and plows his way onwards through dimensions. 2) 8th day juggy. this is the generally accepted peak. 3) classic juggy. this is the base that gets worked with.

really, the solution to 2 and 3 is the same - remove from battle. 1's just not really used. 2's better sure, but even classic juggs is a matter of 'you'd better have some way to get rid of him or auto-kill because if not you're f'd.'

I'm confused by the shredding of Kid Miracleman. Unless you're axing everyone with remotely similar powers to Superman (in which case, Black Adam is out. As is another cool choice I thought of, Count Nefaria. That guy was tough enough that Thor smacking him in the head with his hammer did nothing but make him laugh)
