Making another incredibly solid, unique product. So this is a franchise that has obviously had tons of video game adaptions, some good, some bad, some absolutely abysmal. It lends itself well to games, allowing a great variety of genres and styles. In this, while adhering pretty well to the FPS gameplay, Monolith has created probably the most unique, varied gameplay I've ever experienced in an FPS. There are three campaigns, one for Aliens, one for Predators, and one for the MArines in the way, and throughout these campaigns you'll encounter everything from stealth to horror to strict run and gun madness. But in addition to the actual gameplay, the story is one contained series around several characters. The three campaigns tell it from varying perspectives, often crossing each other and using the same locations. You'll even see in one campaign a scene from another one, or read tidbits on computers about instances and characters seen in another. The Marine campaign starts with your character entering the base and leads on through various plot twists, having you fight all three races using various weapons. While it is the most directly FPS influenced of the three, you still come across a lot of horror and stealth. Monolith creates the same world they always do, with lots of hidden details and conversations for people willing to search around or sit and listen. The Alien campaign is even more awesome - You start off as a lowly little Facehugger, and the first few levels involve you sneaking around searching for prey before you become a full fledged alien, including an awesome scene of you chewing your way out of a victim as a chestburster. The game involves a lot of searching and a bit of puzzle solving and a lot of sneaking when you're not biting faces off, and the combat is rightly fast and fun. The Predator campaign is just pure superiority. You feel every bit the hunter, with awesome level design having you sneak around military bases, forests, and much more, allowing you to either go headfirst with classic weapons or sneak around with weapons like a crossbow gun and the classic disc, even allowing you to claim heads as trophies. Then you get the multiplayer, where the game really shines. There are a ton of modes available, from simple things like deathmatch to more awesome team modes like Hunt, Evacuation, and Survivor, that involve various objectives that one team must complete before the other kills them off, or just seeing how long you can last against oncoming hordes. Possibly my favorite feature is the Alien lifecycle - when activated, Aliens spawn as facehuggers, going through the full lifecycle and having to attatch themselves to someone before becoming full fledged. They can even attatch themselves to predators to become a vicious crossbreed that's much tougher to take down. Overall, the game is incredibly solid in all aspects. For the people who've missed it, it's hard to put into words just how AMAZING the opening Marine level was. For my money, I'd say it's literally the best horror level in a game, any game, bar none. I have never felt as much dread as I did during that level and the second one.
