From: CrimsonOcean | #049 This is so awesome. I've been wanting to go as Carmen Sandiego for a while, but I can never put together a costume I'm happy with. High five! I want pics if you end up dressing up!

Well it is intentionally concave-ish because the belt is going to have to fashion into it some how. Right now I have some wiring on the backside, that I think is going to work... But the top portion is pretty flat.
I'll take a picture from the other side one sec...
edit like so:
So it isn't "bent" so much as the front of it (which is pretty flat) is just resting on the less than flat back part, which I don' t think will be noticeable when it's in use as a buckle-thing.
And now the first coat of metallic silver paint is applied. I think it's going to take at least 3 coats though. Not to cover up all the text on the, but to fill in all the dents and dings from the hammering. It doesn't need to look completely smooth, but it can't have any obvious creases either and so a few coats should fix that.

Since July I have piece by piece purchased a real Master Sword, Hylian Shield, Ocarina of Time (a 7 hole, with the bird symbols), the hat, the Gauntlet, a Triforce Pouch for the Ocarina, and the back sheath for the sword. Just need to create the Tunic and buy some boots like that, along with white tights.
Shirt? I don't think it needs alterations, so this one is auto-done Gun? Done Vest? Done Pants? I got the blood stripe going down one leg (it doesn't go straight down the side because I just followed the seam... But I'm just going to do it the same down the other leg. Belt Buckle? Painted and looks adequate. Belt + Holster? Working on it.

Wow. The girls will be all over you -_-
I had quite a few girls come up and talk to me about my Reptile costume last weekend. Some wanted a picture with me. There are actually plenty of girls out there who enjoy video games and would appreciate a good video game related costume
From: AlecTrevelyan006 | #089 FD, I will admit I had little to no faith in you.
But that came out pretty damn well.
^_^
I really like the character and so I'll probably make this my costume for a couple years at least. So I have until next year to slowly improve upon it.
The pants for example are just dark pants with red duct tape. Which isn't "hard" just very meticulous to cut duct tape the exact same size and then apply it, but I'd like to actually cut fabric for that too and just sew it on. And the belt itself is a very rough version of what he actually has. But for this year? It's good enough.
Indiana Jones. All I really needed was a Fedora. I just have to remember not to shave between now and when I go to my party. I would have really liked to have found a decent satchel, as all I have right now is the whip. (Yeah, I could carry a pistol, but he didn't always have that. He *always* had the European Shoulder Bag.)
What's much more scary is my friends, who decided to do a group costume. Three guys who are, for reference, all at least 6'2, and all at least 230 lbs. The one guy is closer to 400. Two of them have beards they aren't planning on shaving, and I could go into more detail, but basically the bottom line is that they do NOT look the part for what they are going as...the Powerpuff Girls. They made their own dresses and stuff. I honestly think they look more like Peanuts characters wearing them, but whatever. They also tried to recruit other friends to be side characters from the show, and they have mostly everything covered apparently, but I wasn't going to be part of that theme.

That is either going to be very good or very bad. Most likely very bad, but if they do it just right then it approaches "so ridiculous it becomes amazing" territory. Good luck to them I guess?

Yeah, props aren't the kind of thing you think would be difficult until you actually need something super specific. I'm definitly going to be keeping my eyes open all year for things that fit perfectly.
My friends just went to good will and got me some white puffy pants so I'm just gonna wear that and a vest and call myself Aladdin. Also they found a stuffed monkey which is kinda fun. Crappy, last-minute costume, but it serves its purpose.

Can you pull off shirtless vest, then? Because there really isn't too much else.
And if your hair is of at least medium length all you need to do is put some stuff in it to get a decent amount of volume to help add to the effect.
I somehow ended up being Hagrid. If I knew about it further in advance I would of grown out my beard. Pics whenever someone I know posts pics on facebook.
