(Sadly) In this new landscape that is being created, it does. If BBall meant anything, UL would not be about to be dropped to the CUSA/Metro/Sunbelt combination that is about to be created. And KU would not have been worried beyond belief even one month ago that they were going to be left out in the cold, this is KU, one of the 3 best teams ever, and they were scared to utter death they were going to be left out of this, till Texas finally gave in to revenue sharing.
If you are not in one of the Big 4/5 (Don't know what it will end up being when all is said and done) conferences for football, you will not have the money to compete in other sports at a high level year in and year out.
Speaking as a college football fan first and a college basketball fan second, god I can't wait for the big east to kick the bucket so we can stop pretending they're relevant in football.
