But on the replay you can see he slightly reached it across while fighting to cross.

He didn't really reach as much as turned sideways, but the ball was on that side of his body.

Yeah, I remember that one and it made me think of that too.

That one was worse though because that ball actually got batted away.

If he'd just caught it instead of batting it back then it would never have been a touchdown.

ESPN showed two shots clearly showing the ball crossing the plane. Obviously, in real time you'd never see it but it was a touchdown.
