He just straight up does it, and then blames someone else after the fact. The final paragraph pretty much says it all.
In any case, the vice president should know better than to spout off half-baked facts in service of a dubious argument. Even if one believes there is a link between crime and the number of policewhich is debatable and subject to many caveatsthere is no excuse to make the dramatic claim that more people will die or be raped without additional funds for police. When making such a breathtaking charge, you had better have your facts straight.
But remember, its the right who plays on the fears of the population. Now shut up and vote for massive tax increases or your mother will be raped.
This. The VP is a politician first and foremost, so of course he's going to make politically opportune claims like that. No real surprise.
You know, this is just pathetic? When did something become acceptable just because it's common? The left loves to trot this out whenever one of their heroes is caught lying to the face of the American people. Oh, those crazy politicians, they're all liars so who cares, right?
How about they try applying that equally? Oh, those crazy religious people, they're all against abortion and homosexuality so who cares, right?

All politicians should be held to the same standard, certainly. The left needs to do this to the right, and the right to the left.
That's not what I mean. Whenever ANYONE uses the argument of "they all do it, so who cares" they are suggesting that anything that is commonly practiced is automatically not worth caring about.
Does the left REALLY want to go by that standard? Really?

never said it was ok, but republicans do it too and I don't like how BOTH of you selectively pick apart the other side and ignore transgressions from your own because it's good for the team. you're just adhering to an apish tribal mentality that ultimately hurts everyone, both sides need to grow the **** up. this simple minded us vs them conservative vs liberal mentality is dishonest and a disservice to the few sane people left out there that don't identify themselves as being "democrat" or "republican". it isn't about left vs right, the entire system is broken and people need to stop perpetuating it by willingly becoming a cog in a propaganda machine as you do.
SmartMuffin, this is exactly why you don't have a girlfriend. Being the whiny conservatroll on the Internet will accomplish nothing and you'll still be as lonely as ever

yep. been saying this for years. it's a stupid archaic mentality but people don't care. the side they like is perfect, and the other side is evil and horrible.

Smartmuffin, when people see you making blog posts tearing into Republican or Libertarian politicians, you'll gain more credibility on this issue. Where were you when those who support privatisation of prisons and the drug war were making similar false claims to Biden to try to get as many kids put in jail as possible? Where were you when people supported the death penalty out of (obviously false) claims that it discourages violent crime? It feels like even when they do things obviously against your libertarian leanings, you rarely criticise the right.
Regarding the original post, Biden certainly does look pretty bad there!

oh s*** I forgot we have a vice president. It's not that dude who shot his buddy in the face anymore. Hmm... Hilary Clinton is secretary of something... Yeah off the top of my head I can't even remember who the VP is these days... Also my attitude toward whatever you're trying to say is "f*** the police" so yeah... you've made a very informative topic here, FartMuffin

ya right you are case the sunglasses have 3d so i can see right threw their clothes -ertyu (about wearing sunglasses to stare at boobs without girls noticing)
Wake me up when Biden does anything half as destructive as Cheney willfully burying the facts about Iraq's WMDs so Haliburton could make buckets of cash over there for the next decade
