I don't really get why they'd use 5 as an average

gives you more room to express how good the game is, the system they use now is basically a school system, which is good in some ways because it's easy to understand for everyone, but it also leads to numbers below 7 all essentially being the same thing "probably not worth your time".

if I did manage to start up some successful game review site, I'd still use the "7 is average" scale they have now though, since I wouldnt want to screw over developers with my skewed system, since metacritic es dum

The thing that intrigued me the most about this game was seeing how Drake was being portrayed as a character in the trailers, and it's good to know from these reviews that this aspect doesn't disappoint.

I don't really get why they'd use 5 as an average

I like the idea of an A-F grading scale. There'd be no ambiguity about what's average there. Do other mediums (movie/book/TV show reviews) even use the 0-10 or 0-100% scale? Seems like that's almost exclusive to gaming, although I don't really follow reviews for non-game stuff so maybe I'm way wrong.

the eurogamer review was good, he didn't like that the game is incredibly linear and more like a movie then, ya know, a video game. Some people are gonna deal with that, and some people aren't.

He also gave it a great score, so what the f*** are we crying about

Also Edge gave it a 10 with Uncharted 3 a 9. Though they gave Halo 3 a 10 and GTA4 as well...not good argument I think.
