sucking at crushing difficulty in uncharted 1 has left a bad taste in my mouth (so to speak >_>) regarding harder unlockable difficulties. doesnt help that theyre both third person shooters

It's also really easy if you have the Ashley knight armor, because she can't die or be carried away.

That's in the second set of costumes, right? I'm using that one.

you have to be more conservative with ammo, lots more knifing IIRC. not too bad, especially with Ashley knight armor.

Knifing as in baiting an attack and knifing their then kicking and knifing them on the ground or getting a pistol headshot, kicking, then knifing them on the ground?

because i really kind of suck at the former

shooting them in the head or knee than knifing them to death is fine. you just don't want to be wasting 3-5 bullets on every normal zombie like you can get away with in normal difficulty.

It's pretty easy all things considered. If you beat it on normal you should breeze through Professional since you already know what to expect pretty much.

RE5 Professional is actually harder thanks to Uroboros Sprays.

That's lame.

Not really. Separate Ways is pretty cool. Plenty of weapon variety there and there's still treasures/yellow herbs to hunt for, as well the usual random crap like ammo etc.

Assignment Ada was pretty annoying though, mostly because you don't have a shotgun. Way too easy to crowded and killed really quickly in soem spots. Having the semi-auto rifle instead of the bolt-action one makes the Minigun wielders a lot harder, too. They're not too much of a problem in Separate Ways because of the Bowgun (that fires f***ing exploding arrows), though.

I don't think you understood what I thought was lame. I think it's lame that you can make Professional that easy by completely removing any threat to Ashley before you've beaten it the original way.

Yeah, I guess. Honestly though I don't think I care too much. It wasn't too hard to watch out for her on Normal mode in the first place, and if it becomes difficult because she's suddenly going to start dying in 1 hit with full starting life that just sounds like more of a pain in the ass than anything fun.

Well, not if the game becoming harder makes it not fun. Meant to say that I don't really think it's the "main" difficulty of the game in the last post, too. Much more likely that Leon will die instead of Ashley dying/getting carried off.

It's pretty easy. You just need patience and remember to aim at the knees, they dodge more easily if you aim at their heads. I had ammo to spare when I play through pro. Only hard fight is the cabin fight since you don't have a way to funnel them into one location and can't kill quickly.

Yeah, it's still easier for Leon to die, but in the original Professional, there was that danger AND Ashley danger.

It just rubs me the wrong way.

Shoot for the knees/face, always. Suplex/Kick > Knife to death (if applicable).

Guns....
Striker (use regular shotty til you get it)
Semi-Auto Rifle (though use the BAR until you get it).
TMP (optional)
Standard Handgun
Broken Butterfly (and) Killer7

Red 9 is a great handgun, as is the Blacktail, but for professional, the primary function of the hand gun is to set up the Suplex. For that reason, I stick with the standard Handgun since it's cheap, and when fully upgraded does pop heads pretty consistently.

I am one of the few diehard fans of the Riot Shotgun, but I can't deny the strength of the Striker in Pro. Once you get it's exclusive, you will be hard pressed to use all of it's ammo before you need to reload, and speaking of reloading, it's a space saver too since you can fire your shotty up until you can refill it with all your surplus ammo.

I LOVE the BAR, but in pro, speed can be of the essence, and I still use the BAR, but most people will argue the SAR will make the difference in the clutch situations it is needed.

I used to ignore the TMP and sell the ammo, but I actually enjoy it as a weapon. It is completely unnecessary, so if you are going to forgo any weapon, this would be it. If you absolutely have to have the TMP, make sure you take the Striker with it since it allows for more room. A great alternative to having a Magnum for the first half of the game really.

I actually like having two Magnums. I only ever upgrade the damage on them and then fire one til empty, then switch to the other til it's empty. Then I buy each their ammo upgrades. If you take a Magnum (or both), you really don't need the TMP.

Those would be my suggestions for weapons.

So, uh, I never actually managed suplex someone.

...Is it done the same way as Ada's Back Kick command? Where you hit the enemy in the legs and do the command when the enemy is on their knees?

Was going to get Red9, Striker, Bolt-Action, TMP, and Broken Butterfly. Got the Mine Thrower on normal and actually rather liked it but I think it might not be worthwhile for Pro since there's so little ammo available for it.

What makes the Riot Gun good? Faster turning while aiming and 2 more damage with the exclusive are the only things really unique about it when compared to the regular shotgun, right? I'd think that the Striker's wider shot when added with its better stats would make it definitely better.

Also, just how useful are the stocks and upgraded scopes for the TMP/Red9 and rifles? The TMP seemed to handle just as well for Ada as it did for Leon with the stock during the main campaign, and the default scopes didn't seem much worse when I tried them out, though I never did so for an extensive period of time...

I'm getting a different Kick animation when I kick a Ganados that's on his knees (as opposed to flailing from a headshot), so I guess that will actually be the suplex on a zealot/soldier.

This. And it has the same effect at longer range.

So you can headshot (pop it like a grape) an enemy much further away than normal with the Riot over the other two shotguns (until the regular gets it's exclusive). Damage means nothing if the Riot can pop a head with one shot at the distance a handgun is usually useful at, sometimes multiple enemies with one round if they are close enough. Riot was my gun of choice in my first pro game. And when you have the Riot AND the Standard Handgun, it gets insane how many headsplats you get.

Striker is a better general recommendation though because of the ammo issue in Pro. With the exclusive, you just picked up 100 free ammo rounds, which for a shotgun, go a long way. People who use a Shotgun for Crowd Control will definitely go for the Striker over the Riot.

I will always prefer the Riot over the Striker in most cases, but when I recommend someone else, it's best they take the weapon suited for the mode.

I don't think you can Suplex in the beginning of the game. Whenever I do the Village, knee shots still set up kicks for me. It really doesn't change much though. A kick still gets the enemy prone where knife work can finish the job and save you some ammo (1 bullet per kill).

Stock is pretty useful for precision aiming on the Red 9. For the TMP, it's not as necessary since it's designed to go full auto on an enemy without spraying all over the place. TMP should NEVER be used in a full auto capacity. You should still be tapping the fire button in a burst fashion. If you plan on using the Red 9 and firing multiple bullets to drop enemies, getting the stock might be useful for those head shots. If you plan on shooting in the leg and kicking/suplexing, then the stock can be ignored.

The Rifles all zoom in without a scope, the scope just adds a lot more zoom. This isn't necessary, but it can be useful for some situations (Any time you want to take out enemies way before you get to the area to fight them).

SPOILERS

For what it's worth, I played through Professional on non-Wii controls for the first time in years recently. The only troubling part was Krauser, and that's because Wii controls totally change the way you fight him and make him a lot easier. I think Krauser is supposed to be the hardest part of the game, but Wii controls break that.

General Advice

- Always fortify yourself in a corner or place where enemies can only attack you from one side. Such areas include the small locked room in the village (it's an iron door so they can never break it), the double-switch room at the end of 3-1.

- When doing the cabin fight, only fortify two windows. Break the third so that you and Luis have more time to easily pick off enemies who only attack you from one side.

- Never use a sniper rifle during the gondola ride. The game kinda hints toward it, but a handgun is more than good enough, and one handgun shot is enough to kill anyway.

- Be patient during the Chief Mendez fight. As long as you're running from one side of the room to the other, he can't really hit you. Take your time and pick your shots wisely. On pro, he does insane damage.

- When facing one enemy (or a small group), dash toward them for a split second and immediately walk back. They'll lunge at you or attack. They will miss, and you'll have enough time to run forward and knife their eyes, setting up a kick.

- Suplex is the coolest attack, but the kick is better overall. Kick has a nice splatter range and guarantees that Leon ends the attack with no enemies near him. The suplex can end with Leon getting up right in the face of an attacking enemy; there's no way to dodge that.

- I'm sure you know about the ammo upgrade trick. Upgrading your capacity gives you a full magazine for free. This is essential for your Broken Butterfly. It gives you tons more ammo and allows you to use the magnum more freely against Garradors and JJ, making them laughably easy.

Getting good at meleeing is key.

Their hitboxes are really big for kicking and stuff, so they all tend to fall and stumble when you kick one guy, plus it gives you invincibility frames!

If you ever 5-starred Mercenaries, you probably developed the right strategies for Professional.

Also, Crushing isn't that hard imo >_>

Thanks for all the info. Been getting through the game pretty decently so far, at the start of 3-2.

Is there any way to consistently set up a Suplex? A lot of the time when I aim for the legs the enemy just falls over or winces in pain but doesn't go on their knees. Not sure if I'm aiming differently when I do get the Suplex or what.

The TMP has been extraordinarily useful so far. It's *really* good if you're getting crowded because it has a significant amount of stopping power (waaay more than a pistol), and unlike a Shotgun you don't have to worry about the lag between shots or the need to reload.

Striker is a lot better at crowd control than the regular unupgraded Shotgun I'm using right now... but still, TMP has definitely let me get out of quite a few bad situations and into a much better position, as well as providing a rather quick way to kill if I'm willing to spend the ammo.

And I really need to learn how to use grenades better... >_>
