IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT TLK IS THEN READ THIS POST
1) TLK Stands for The Last Knights. It is an online strategy game in which you are a commander of a small army (usually around 40 soldiers once you've promoted up a bit) but you are just one commander in a country of many. You have to work together with the other members of your country to war the opposing countries. It's kind of like a real-time risk except you control only your own army instead of an entire board of many armies.
2) The site is www.lastknights.com and you can sign up for free! But you can also use the referral code of a B8er to sign up so they some decent in game benefits when you start to play a bit. I recommend using my code since I spend the most time helping new users learn to play, but I'm not going to hold a gun to your head. (But if you want to be nice, then ask me what my code is and I'll let you use it)
3) This game can be kind of confusing and daunting for newcomers. Please allow someone from B8 to show you the ropes. Quite a few of us play again and so we're trying to have a strong country together and support each other.
4) The country we will be starting this age is going to be Kamakura Shogunate. Which is to say the asia-map name for Japan. It is the most secluded countries that has the unit type necessary for the fun we have planned. Please be online RIGHT at 4:30/7:30 to join Kama. Only 10 slots will open immediately and if you don't make it in the first wave you are going to have to wait a bit for a new slot. (But if you don't make it then please just wait. Slots will gradually begin to open until 30 people can join the country)
5) We aren't just joining Kama together, we are also all going to have identical armies. We will be building full Huochong armies which are a very powerful artillery unit. By combining as many Huo armies as we can we are going to turn Kama into an EXTREMELY lethal force. I have written a guide on how I think we can best accomplish putting these armies together which I will post after this. Please read it and ask me any questions you have about it.
6) We also use IRC to communicate outside of B8 to organize ourselves for the game. I suggest downloading mIRC and connecting to the gamesurge server, but you can also just go to www.gamesurge.net/chat and connect to our channel there. We do not have a channel name for Age 114 yet, but I expect we'll have one before the age begins.
I think that's it for now, please read this and read the Huochong Guide and let me know if you have any questions about how it's going to work.
::Step 3 ~ Remember this:: It is important to realize that you will NOT be able to hit Lieutenant* in a single run. It takes 1351 Experience to hit Lieutenant* and buy the required amount of soldiers. There is no "quick" way to both hit that mark and make sure your soldiers are getting a good amount of XP. You could dismiss/train fighters until then or something, but then you still have the problem of having a bunch of soldiers who are not ready to be promoted.
::Step 4 ~ Now your training can truly begin:: This next part is the long part. It involves training from Lieutenant* (1351 XP) to Marshal (20,001 XP) as swiftly as you possibly can. You should be able to hardcap pretty easily now promoting units as they are able.
When a Townsmen hits 3001 Xp you will promote it into a Firelancer. DO NOT PROMOTE Vet Townsmen into Std Spearmen. ONLY Promote into Firelancers.
Once your units start to hit 25,000 XP do NOT promote anything from a Master Firelancer to a Standard Huochong. Firelancers should be "okay" for training. Not as good as heavy infantry are, but a LOT better than a Huochong would be. The idea is that you will have a full Firelancer Army (hopefully all Master Firelancers with enough XP to promtoe) up until the point you hit Marshal and then everything instantly changes into Huochongs.
::Step 5 ~ A word of caution to this tale:: It is altogether possible that you will NOT reach Marshal before we start going to war. (If we're lucky we'll get a solid 2 days before our first war, but I don't want to count on that)
Do not get discouraged if you're still only General** or something when war begins. Just join SFs a lot and stick with it, we will all have full Huochong armies in no time.
The last thing I want to see this age is a bunch of people who think "it was too hard to get to marshal in time, so I guess I'll just participate next age". This age can be amazing but only if we get as many people to commit to this and stay with it as possible.
Even if you get CK'd, please just start over, and use SFs as often as we have them to rank back up with speed.
::Step 6 ~ I'll make a man out of you['re heroes]:: I think it is important to get the right skills on your heroes in the right orders for this. You don't have to follow this to the letter, but something like this is what I would suggest to get you started:
-Get Healing and level it up to 20 -Get Leadership and keep it at 10 -Get Training and keep it at 10 -Get 10 of each of the relevant skills for dueling. (Resilience, Agility, All the ones that your hero will actually use) -Get Merchant to 25
That will take awhile in itself and by then you can decide what else to get. I don't think Duelist is particularly necessary since by the time we're done training up to Huos are battles will hopefully all end in the ranged round of combat. I will probably get duelist later on my heroes so they will participate in duels in main drops, but it isn't something I see as super necessary. But you do need some stats on them to make sure they don't get injured in training.
See I played a game like this for 10 years so really how much different is it

Let me start by saying this is a guide specifically to help you build into a strong army of Huochongs at the rank of Marshal. You will want to start as early in the age as you can since they can take a bit longer than some other armies to train up and you want the most time possible to be "safely" promoted into Huos. Most people will not PvP a full army of Huos, there is too much potential for deaths. With that in mind you ideally want to try and have your Huo army together by the time wars are beginning.
This strategy does NOT involve the dismissing and rebuying of units at low ranks! It involves training until your army is low, waiting to heal and then training some more. Especially during the first day it is important to make as many training runs as you can.
The final product is going to result in you having 44 Standard Huochongs and 1 Master Firelancer at the rank of Marshal. You can eventually dismiss down to as low as 38 Master Huochongs and 3 Veteran Huochongs (41 total) but for hardcapping purposes you want to try and keep extras. It is possible that you will have enough Standard Huos ready to promote to veteran at Marshal that you will be able to dismiss the firelancer and promote, but NEVER dismiss below 41 soldiers. Personally I will be trying to keep 44-45 the whole time.
Please follow the guide as exactly as you can.
::Step 1 ~ Huos was beginning:: Starting at Private purchase 10 Apprentice Townsmen. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES PROMOTE YOUR SOLDIERS YET. Leave all of your soldiers at the rank of apprentice until otherwise noted in this guide.
::Step 2 ~ Gotta buy 'em all:: Train until you rank up. This will take 91 commander XP for the first rank. Now you should purchase a hero and 3 more apprentice townsmen.
It is important to understand that while training you should NOT be dismissing your injured townsmen and replacing them with new soldiers.
There is however one exception to this 'do not dismiss' rule. (A) If the injured townsmen had less than 301 experience when he got injured and (B) If the country has more than enough townsmen available in the cities it is okay to dismiss and replace. ONLY DO THIS IF BOTH CONDITIONS ARE MET. If you dismiss a townsmen who has a lot of experience then you are hurting yourself. If you are burning through our countries supply of townsmen when we don't have enough then you are hurting the country. Do not hurt yourself or the country.
It is possible to promote SOME of your apprentice townsmen to Standard Townsmen, but you have to do it in exactly the order specified: Private: Buy 10 App, Promote 0 ~ [10 App, 0 Std] Corporal: Buy 3 App, Promote 3 ~ [10 App, 3 Std] Corporal*: Buy 3 App, Promote 3 ~ [10 App, 6 Std] Sergeant: Buy 3 App, Promote 0 ~ [13 App, 6 Std] Sergeant*: Buy 4 App, Promote 0 ~ [17 App, 6 Std] Sergeant**: Buy 4 App, Promote 0 ~ [21 App, 6 Std] Lieutenant: Buy 14 App, Promote 11 ~ [24 App, 17 Std] Lieutenant*: Buy 4 App [28 App, 17 Std]
You now have as many soldiers as you are going to need. A minimum of 41, as mentioned, is required to hardcap marq (assuming you rank that high) and the extras will be necessary to hardcap along the way. You can now promote freely. My personal suggestion is to promote as evenly as possible. Get all of the apprentice up to std, then the std to vet and so forth.

Yeah, I most certainly can join up tonight. But I'm not very familiar with League of Legends. I'll probably choose a nickname later and let those familiar with the game go first.

I'm prolly gonna join another country with access to huochangs. I'll join a weak one first to build my army up, and then after getting killed, I'll try to make my way into Kamakura with b8.

They usually take a long time...it's also based on avg strength too. Kamakura ranks 2nd among strength as well, so it's unlikely to open up anytime soon until the dayshifters start coming.
I'm anxious though to get my army going so I'll be in Song Dynasty for now to get my huochongs. They're the weakest of the huochong countries too so they should get wiped out early. Whatever though, I'll try to come into Kamakura after Song is dead.

From: PokeStalker | #041 Noticed there was an open slot in the country so I pounced on it. Joined as Wukong. Not sure if there's a waiting list that I totally skipped...
Nope, now that more countries have fallen off there will be a lot of room. And so naturally our main army is going to get more and more diluted with non-Huo armies, but we'll do our best to keep it together and encourage people with arty to come here.
