Frankie Edgar retained Lightweight title by KO against Gray Maynard in round 5
Chael Sonnen beat Brian Stann by submission and immediately laid a challenge for Anderson Silva for Superbowl weekend. If Sonnen wins, Anderson leaves the middleweight division; if Anderson wins, Sonnen claims he'll leave UFC forever.

Doubt the "division-leaving" thing's gonna be legit, unless Silva decides to go Light Heavyweight anyway, but we'll see.

Huh, interesting. Do you think the Sonnen's bet will materialize? I thought Dana wanted to present the UFC as every bit the sport that something like the NFL is, but this pushes it more into the realm of theatrics. Personally, I want more theatrics in the UFC, but I doubt he does.

he's beaten penn twice, already beaten sherk, florian is down to featherweight, pettis has been underwhelming

jim miller seemed logical (he lost to edgar like 5 years ago), but his loss to ben henderson derailed his momentum

i think henderson is fighting clay guida soon, i'd probably say the winner of that fight is next in line but meh

i love guida but i'm not sure he has any business in a title fight

I don't know if it was a great PPV, both title fights were pretty poor imo.

sonnen was easily the highlight of my night, WHAT A BADASS.

and I can't believe people are questioning who else edgar has to fight, the LW division is stacked. There aren't tons of guys with huge winning streaks, but I think thats more because of the quality of the division over anything.

i know it's a deep division, but that's the problem

nobody is separating themselves from the pack

i think sherk has the most impressive resume by far but he can't stay healthy and he already lost to edgar

i liked the card a lot. a quick submission, a war (though a pretty ugly one), sonnen beasting (though i didn't really love it), and edgar-maynard 3 closes with a f***ing bang. i don't know how you could call that title fight poor in the least.

aldo-florian was lacking i'll give you that, but it was one dud among five strong fights imo

I like a good finish, but it doesn't make up for the sins of the previous rounds. Round 2 was especially painful with Edgar still recovering, and Maynard just doing nothing about it.

Mir-Cro Cop had a great ending, didn't make me feel any better about the fight >_>.
