Skyler is a weird character. It seems like she can be as compelling as Walt or Jesse, but since she's way more minor, not enough time is spent fleshing her out. I certainly understand her anger with Walt at the beginning - no one, especially a woman - likes being constantly lied to and shut out of a relationship. She's a great mother, has to deal with a ton of crap, and gets zero support. I sympathize with that.

What I don't like is...

like, I find skylar to be one of the least entertaining characters, but it isn't like anyone else makes better choices.

While no character is prefect in this show (except Hank of course) Skyler is more annoying about it I guess.

yeah, skylar is completely uncharismatic, I agree, but all things considered she probably makes less stupid choices than most of the characters.

I just finished season 3 and can't understand why everyone hates her so much. There are like two things I can fault her for, one of which was smoking while pregnant. Walt has done way more wrong than she has. I'm not saying she's interesting but there's no reason to hate her. Must be mysgony.

don't understand the hate either. she's not a great char, but she's not horrible either

I call it the 'Kate syndrome' aka a hate for a char that's been blown way out of proportion

one guy on the internet starts hating on a char and the rest follows. Every show needs its black sheep or something I guess?

Skyler is unlikable because she is a control freak. Remember when Walt bought Jr. the car? Don't kid yourself that she was upset because the "cover story" might be blown; parents buy kids stupid stuff they can't afford all the time. No -- she was pissed that Walt bought the car without her approval, her "research", her ultimate decision. She wants Walt and Jr. right under her motherly thumb.

Reason number two is her naivety about what's going on with Walt. The audience knows way more about Walt's situation than she does. Hence the ridiculous things she can say and do that make his life harder, though totally reasonable with her limited knowledge, wear on our patience.
