Never tried this before. Is this a good set of rules?
Any fainted Pokemon must be released. Can catch only the first Pokemon from each area. (If a Pokemon has been captured/released before, it is exempt from the above rule.) No grinding in wild bushes. Trainers may be fought, or avoided, in any order. One visit per Pokemon Center; no exceptions. Pokemon must be trained evenly. No loading past saves. Nicknames required.

Houston Texans: 3-1 Apparently, being right is a moddable offense.

That looks better.

No amount of planning will ever replace dumb luck.
From: WazzupGenius00 | #009 "First pokemon encountered doesn't count if I've caught/killed/released it before" is the dumbest rule anyone could add to Nuzlocke
More like best rule
It makes the game horrendously boring if it's not put in.
In fact I'd argue it's even more in the spirit of the challenge since the whole point is to make each Pokemon unique and get you attached to them.
From: ShadowHalo17 | #013 No, I agree that the caught/released before rule is stupid. Catch the first Pokemon from every area, even if it's a duplicate. It makes it more fun.
If by fun you mean 'boring' then yeah I guess it's more fun.
How is it more boring? You always have a variety when playing Pokemon, Nuzlocke is SUPPOSED to make it so you don't have a choice, if you end up with 5 Geodudes and 40 Zubats, then so be it. That's part of what Nuzlocke is all about.
For my Nuzlocke, I didn't catch it if I already had one, but if it was something that I'd had at one point but ended up having to release because it had died, it was a valid replacement. Ended up catching one Rattata on Route 1, losing it in the Route 22 Rival Battle, and catching another one on Route 3.
