He was also "retired" for 18 years and had all that time to give back his money.
As opposed to Jobs who was retired for a couple of months before his death. good topic though -- http://28.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lcb35gGx0t1qailr4o1_500.gif http://www.megavideo.com/?v=57N0YAEJ ... Copied to Clipboard!

As if Jobs died completely out of the blue and had not time to, I dunno, use his money for something other than piling it up.
There's also the matter of him turning Apple into one of the lest philanthropic companies in the country, shutting down all of their enterprises and not bringing them back even when they reach record profits. -- SubDeity wants to vote for Calvin Coolidge. To the first paragraph, Carnegie did almost nothing until he sold his company for a couple hundred million dollars, after he retired. The second part is a cool fact but has nothing to do with the first post and my response to it. Point still stands, the quote you posted doesn't make any sense given that Jobs had a matter of months to do what Carnegie did over the course of 18 years (and yes, Carnegie did almost nothing in terms of philanthropic work until he 'retired). good topic still though -- http://28.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lcb35gGx0t1qailr4o1_500.gif http://www.megavideo.com/?v=57N0YAEJ ... How freaking awesome would it have been if Steve Jobs had buried thousands of briefcases filled with money in them around America and on his death bed revealed a secret code to punch into iPhones in order to activate a built in app that initiated a nationwide scavenger hunt for them?

To the first paragraph, Carnegie did almost nothing until he sold his company for a couple hundred million dollars, after he retired.
Sure, but this actually fit within Carnegie's overall plan (get a lot of money, then spend time giving it all away). Jobs never seems to have given much thought at all to charity. It's not like he died in a car crash; his health has been awful for years. The second part is a cool fact but has nothing to do with the first post and my response to it. Well, it seems to indicate a fundamentally uncharitable nature. I chose the quote because it resonates, but the key fact is that Jobs was immensely wealthy but apparently did not use his wealth at all to help others. -- SubDeity wants to vote for Calvin Coolidge.
