Found a guy in a barrel near the bottom of the sewers. Broke him out, but did 10 damage to him so now he hates me forever.
Hope he's not terribly important because I don't feel like paying that insane soul fee just to make him like me again. >_>

I did the same thing. He's the Pyromancer guy and somewhat worthwhile. I just opted to start over since I wasn't doing that terribly well to begin with on my first real attempt at the game (probably chose the wrong starter and bonuses for one).

^Same guy I accidentally attacked. That's the sorcerer. I rolled into the barrel he was in and everything went okay, but when I talked to him at Firelink Shrine, some jerk followed me back and started attacking me. I carelessly locked on to the enemy and took a swing, which had been a safe enough swing at the time, but the enemy jumped forward causing me to alter the trajectory of my blade, putting it right in the path of the sorcerer. I was tempted to just kill him for being an a******, but decided to work on paying him off instead.

Edit: Oh yeah, that was the pyromancer. Different guy, then.

Yeah, staying in front of him will get you killed really easily, but that's like his only attack, so just stay behind him the whole time(cut his tail off) and he is really easy.

I killed the Iron Golem boss, then went ahead and defeated the Stray Demon. I'm gonna farm some souls then I can finally get my revenge on that one guy who killed the firekeeper woman since I can reach the place I'm suppose to go to now.

25k souls for beating him, wow. I'm probably never going to have this many souls again so I'll probably go and get the forest key from that blacksmith before I enter Blighttown and die a billion times.

If you have the basement key, go back to the spot after you defeat the Taurus Demon. Where the Sun guy is at...
Took me awhile to figure at which door that key was used for.

Or you can go to Darkroot garden, and farm souls or something.

Heh...never even discovered darkroot garden because I was too scared to fight the thing at the bottom of the stairs. I never even let it hit me because I just assumed I was going to die... Wasn't too hard at all, although I have to say, I have no idea how I would beat any of these special enemies without magic. Darkroot looks pretty cool, I think I will just hadn't out here for a while.

Is there a special way to escape the grabs? I just got grabbed and drained of all my health...

1. You die. A lot. Then get a sense of accomplishment when you succeed...then you get your ass kicked some more by the next obstacle

2. A little of both. You can invade other people's worlds and they can invade you while your in human form. Covenants also aid wiht co op or being a troll

Took someone's advice and investigated the basement door up near the dragon bridge. Once in, managed to stumble upon the Capra Demon. Whoops.

Thankfully, I managed to kill him on my first try. I went into the depths and was promptly slaughtered by a butcher.

I love this game.

he's actually really easy once you get close to him. It's getting close that's the problem with all those projectiles.

Apparently there's a shortcut near the beginning of Londo that bypasses Blighttown and takes you right to its boss.

okay well finally spend some time with the game

so when I at last get to fight a real boss, he knocks me off the castle wall and jumps right after me. YOU DIED YOU DEFEATED, great job taurus demon

almost got a heart attack while going through dragon inferno bridge because I didn't see the stairs at first but I somehow still made it

currently having a horrible time with these red caped soldiers that can apparently parry my attacks. Haven't really done any soul grinding yet so maybe that will solve it, I'm currently level 10.

Edit: Beat him on the first try, after the technical difficulties enduced loss. For being so utterly terrifying looking, he was a joke!

Huh? He's never on your side. He pellets you with soul arrow and casts what I assume is an offensive buff spell on Gaping if you don't kill him first.

Although, the first time I fought Gaping, the mage was alive and he did nothing. Glitch or the Dark Souls just being nice?


Also, beat Quelaag. For all the people going on about the Drake Sword, there should be twice that many going on about the Black Knight Sword.

Anyone know at what point you're able to swing strength based weapons faster?
If I recall right there's a point where the speed increases a bit once you're far enough past the requirement. I REALLY want to use my Zweihander but I'm pretty much forced to use the Drake Sword for now because it's just too slow to deal with all these monsters.

I heard that was just a false rumor. But it would be great if true.

If it's not true, then I don't quite see how I can do my Guts run, at least for most of these areas I'm dealing with now. There's just too many enemies in areas that are too cramped for such a slow swing. :(

On a related note, is there any decent place to get souls at this point besides the forest? I know you need 20k souls for that spot but the only place to get that many souls seems to be bosses.

The big skeletons in the graveyard area give 500 souls each, and if you ran through the Depths enough times you might get enough since the frogs are 200 souls, I think. There's also an NPC black phantom in there that gives ~6000, but he only shows up once.

I'm not sure if you get souls when you help other people beat their bosses, but if you do you might want to try being summoned to fight the Gargoyles or Gaping Dragon or something.

yeah I was unlucky and never got it. Of all the BK's I faced I got 2 Black Knight Shields and a few stone chunks for crafting

I got cursed a few times by the frogs in the sewers. The merchant at the bottom of the first bell tower sells the uncurse thing for 3000 souls. The merchant right outside the Depths in the shortcut back to Firelink Shrine also sells it, but for 6000 souls. Seems a bit faster just to run back to the bell tower.

And I usually get 2500-3000 souls when I run through the sewers and kill all the frogs. It's risky due to the potential to get cursed, though.

Last time I tried this I had 20k souls in tow from Gaping Dragon and I lost them all. X_X

I just grinded to 20K early on by constantly going back and forth from the undead burg bonfire and up to the ladder to the dragon and letting him kill everyone on the bridge for 300 souls then going down and repeating the process

I lost about 10k souls and 3 humanity in the sewers due to being cursed. Probably my least favorite area so far.

I just beat the Gaping Dragon and bought the Glorious Armor from the merchant by the door to Blighttown. Stopped before I went into Blighttown because I'm not sure I want to do that yet or go explore the forest.

You do, but you only get half the number of souls from the boss and enemies.

And I spent 30 minutes trying to being summoned for Gaping. Shame too because the sewers are currently my favorite stage.

I'm thinking of doing a dual crossbow run..

I don't think it'd work.

Defeated the Wolf. He was the hardest guy I ran into so far, mainly because of his stupid swing attack, and I didn't have enough stamina to withstand the 2nd swing around.

just beat spider boobies with the help of man-eater mildred and some dude with a halberd

of course, immediately thereafter I fell down twice and lost all the souls I won after beating her, so now I'm doing some co-op and grinding out her boss battle. already up to 20k souls after two runs.

my revenge will be a rewarding one

I love this Gold-Hemmed armor! It makes me look like a Nazgul.

Has anyone gotten the Covetous Gold Serpent Ring? It boosted my Item Discovery from 100 to 300. I'm quite happy with that.

Yeah, it's awesome. I just killed two black knights in a row and got a greataxe and 2 large titanite shards. I almost never have humanity so it's very unlikely I get a drop from anything, but this things helps massively.
