Was merrily enjoying myself, figured I would have a nice healthy apple to nom on before I had to go to bed and then WHAM all of a sudden breathing becomes 10x harder.
Luckily, a little bit of motion enabled the piece lodged in my throat to go down. At least I am thinking that is what happened...still doesn't feel quiiite right, but breathing is normal again at least.
The moral of the story: Apples are evil

yeah, coughing and there does seem to be some irritant. looked up food being in the lung, and it seems it will usually get a coating of mucus making it easier to cough up like phlegm...whee

i remember once as a kid noming a butterscotch hard candy thing on the way home from some doctor appointment thing. it got stuck in my throat and made breathing painful and difficult until it dissolved enough to go down. this apple was a considerably shorter event, but much more intense...
