Vote-ins probably mean a few days.

Vote-ins have lasted either 4 or 6 days before. Even if the vote-ins began tonight, we likely wouldn't get a bracket until next week. That means we won't get a bracket until October 10 at the earliest. Even with only two weeks to predict (which would undoubtedly be the shortest prediction period ever), we wouldn't be able to run a full-length contest without overlapping Christmas. That being the case, it seems certain that this will be a shortened contest.

I made a post in the stats topic about nominations going down. They went down around 4:38 PM EST.

Vote-ins have lasted either 4 or 6 days before. Even if the vote-ins began tonight, we likely wouldn't get a bracket until next week. That means we won't get a bracket until October 10 at the earliest. It was 6 days for Character Battle 2010 and 4 days for Game of the Decade. It really doesn't matter if it's 4 days or 6 days, as we won't get a bracket until next Monday. I suspect we will probably have a bracket containing 64 rivalries, with round 1 being 12 hours long and 24 hour matches for round 2 and beyond. That would result in a 47 day contest.

This also hints at a shortened contest. Vote-ins suggest that the field is only 64-entrants deep (since 64 entrants means 128 individual characters here). Doing vote-ins for a 256-character-deep pool would be really curious, as no one would care about any of the fodder in the polls. The only way to extend a 64-entrant tournament into two months is to return to the 24-hour match format. Considering the overwhelming praise SBAllen has received for day/night matches, what reason does he have to switch back now?

Yeah, I imagine there will only be four days of vote-ins.

Personally, I'm kinda surprised there are enough unique sets of rivals to even do vote-ins considering we got less than 20,000 noms.

Perhaps the vote-ins will be solely in this format. We would be voting in the possible partners for Mario, Ryu, etc.

It would, but considering Big Boss/The Boss still needs a vote in, yet Big Boss/Solid Snake and Big Boss/Revolver Ocelot arent even in the running that doesn't seem likely. The gap between Bowser and Sonic is probably even bigger.

I actually sent Allen a feedback ticket suggesting he put Sonic/Bowser to vote since the system recognized one and not the other. he won't do it but it'd be a good idea.
