Chapter 20

Reg was still pretty worried. He knew he had gotten lucky with his earlier kill - he couldn't just aim to miss every time and hope to get lucky.

Winning just seemed such a long way off for him. He didn't know how many were left, but he knew that to win with this piece of trash that was his weapon was next-to-impossible. The sense of forboding threatened to overwhelm him.

Cobain stalked his prey. The M1911A1 was modified and had a greater range than a normal one would have, but the kill was still not sure. He wanted it to be sure, for there to be no risk of alerting this man. Cobain, of course, had no clue that the weapon Reg carried was defective.

Cobain's movements were sleek and noiseless, almost like a Jedi (almost like a Jedi). He was able to get closer and closer to Reg, using (as per usual) the trees for cover.

After a short time he felt he was finally close enough to take a shot at Reg. He drew his pistol and sheathed his lightsaber - he would need both hands for this shot.

Which he took.

Unfortunately for Cobain, Reg happened to see a lucky penny on the ground. "ooh, a lucky penny!" he exclaimed as he bent down to pick it up. The shot went over Reg's head and Reg, alert, dove behind (you guessed it) a tree.

Cobain swore at his bad luck and drew his lightsaber.

Suddenly a round of Reg's blaster fire tore through the tree directly above Cobain's head. He felt the heat of it. Cobain knew then that he would have to move - another shot of that nature would surely hit its mark.

"lol"

Reg's repeated shots kept missing, but Cobain knew not the nature of the gun - he thought it was just Reg being bad. Cobain swung the lightsaber around him and actually deflected a couple of shots.

Reg looked in awe at Cobain's weapon (lol). Cobain, still twirling his lightsaber to deflect blaster fire, raised his gun and fired. Reg swiftly took cover to avoid the .45 calibre destruction and it was his turn to swear. Cobain had offense and defence down and there was seemingly no way to beat him - especially with this crappy weapon.

Taking a couple of sighs, Reg closed his eyes. If he was going out, he was going out fighting. As he heard the whirring sound of the approaching lightsaber, Reg stuck his arm out from the tree and fired repeatedly at the sound.

All of the shots missed Cobain.

Unfortunately, Cobain's flamboyant lightsaber whirls were wider than Cobain himself. His excellent defensive strategy worked against him as a shot hit the very tip of the saber, bounced off and hit Cobain in the head. It didn't fall off, but it did when he fell on his own lightsaber, which sliced through his neck like a hotknife through butter.

Meanwhile, Smeg"mer"muneus were still attempting to support Caelus. As Mer tended to him, Comm whispered "we should really leave him..."
Caelus, more conscious than Comm had given him credit for, had overheard. He coughed and said "yes, you really should. And if one of you wins, come back here and we'll settle this."

Mer sighed and said "...fine."

Chapter 21

foolmo was incredibly bored, since absolutely nothing had happened involving him in the last several chapters. It did, however, mean he had survived a pretty long time in this game and still had 5 sand-things left in the tank.

Oh wait, 4. In his boredom he had used one while observing KommKo's hammer blow to Killjoy, like an instant replay. It had been very enjoyable to watch.

Finally, however, he came across todbot1. todbot was stalking around, concentrating hard on his surroundings - his encounter with Chornic had been a huge wake-up call for him and he now had more focus. It was this focus that allowed him to detect foolmo's approach.

todbot looked foolmo up and down and liked what he saw.

No, this isn't a genre shift. todbot liked that foolmo only wielded a dagger. It gave him a chance at least to survive this encounter.

Wordlessly the frustrated foolmo attacked todbot. todbot had to steady himself to repel the attack, swinging his bat to keep the aggressive foolmo at bay.

foolmo ducked a swipe and aimed at todbot, who jumped backwards to avoid it. todbot aimed at foolmo again, this time with a stabbing movement aimed to wind foolmo.

It worked. foolmo was caught completely off guard and doubled over. todbot took the opportunity to swing hard at foolmo's head...sadly, though, foolmo used timehax again before contact could be made, sliding his thumb over the button.. He went back to before Todbot's attempted "stab" and dodged around it.

foolmo's would-be lightning quick reactions surprised todbot. That thought was followed through his head by foolmo's dagger. todbot's face fell off, though the rest of the head remained intact.

foolmo backed away from his fallen foe and looked for someone else to kill. 3 sands left.

Then his finger accidentally brushed over the button. Whoops. 2 sands left.

Justin_Crossing was looking on. He smirked evilly at the man he would surely kill.

Chapter 22

XIII was bored again. He looked lazily over at Ryoko's screen - she was chasing Maniac64, scythe in hand. She was almost grim-reaper-esque and XIII did not blame Maniac for the elevated heartrate he was experiencing, which was down to more than just the chase. He was scared.

He took his empty plate of fried elk into the kitchen and pondered. He supposed he HAD been kind of a douchebag in messing with Maniac's weapon like that...and he was bored, which always led to fun things happening.

"Oh I know!"

The inspiration came to XIII like a bolt of lightning. He checked the screens again - Maniac was still being chased. He saw the newly-arisen Speedyoshi and Tombolo duelling too, Tom's steel chair colliding with Speedyoshi's shovel, but wasn't interested for now.

He went to his control panel and hit a bunch of buttons with lightning quickness.

In the forest, Maniac chanced a look behind him. He wished he hadn't, because he saw Ryoko gaining.

When he looked forward again there was a wall in front of him. It had simply appeared from nowhere, and in the middle was a depression...just large enough for his tiny Halberd. He didn't think twice - he had no idea how this had gotten here, but he knew he had to try and escape from Ryoko somehow. He d) put it in.

The wall opened like a door - and inside the door was an elevator. Don't even ask.

Maniac took it down. Meanwhile, as the door shut behind him, the Halberd burned and exploded. Ryoko could not follow him now, and she smacked the wall in frustration.

XIII giggled as he watched Maniac's screen. When the elevator arrived at its destination below the forest floor, Maniac was shocked by the sight that met him.

Meanwhile, speedyoshi and Tom duelled aggressively. Speedyoshi had spurned his second shovel since he had no room to manouevre, and simply swung away with his one remaining weapon.

Tom had defended admirably and gotten a few decent shots in of his own, but nothing definitive yet. Tom swing low, aiming for Speedyoshi's gut, but Speedyoshi dodged backwards...speedily. Unfortunately, he also tripped over a log and fell.

As Tom went for the kill, a great whirring was heard.

The ground just behind Tom began to open up and Tom had to steady himself, giving Speedyoshi time to recover. He retreated to a safe distance and watched as the ground completely opened up and another sound was heard. The floor was rising.

The first thing Tombolo and Speedyoshi were aware of was Red. Lots of red. It took them a minute to realize what it was.

A firetruck. And a Maniac was at the wheel.

Yes, Maniac64's weapon was now a firetruck. Where the ladder would have been there was instead a huge golden halberd.

The glint in his eye was certainly maniacal, as he laughed and hit the accelerator. Speedyoshi, being further away, managed to dodge, but Tombolo was not so lucky. He was run over by the advancing firetruck, his head crushed by the wheel. It inevitably fell off.

Speedyoshi sprinted in the other direction as the firetruck ravaged the forest, knocking trees aside like bowling pins (XIII had loosened them for this very purpose. Shut up).

Maniac grinned. He was back in the game in a big way.

Chapter 22.5

XIII looked at the receipt for all the s*** he had ordered to organize this game.

Firetruck...check. Fake trees...check. Hydraulic mechanism...check. All the weapons...check.

However, there was one thing missing. He roared at his assistant. "DAMMIT, WHERE IS THE AMBULANCE I ORDERED?!"
"I don't know sir, I-"
"oh well who cares LOL"

Chapter 23

JC's stalking of Foolmo continued. He was looking for the perfect angle to kill him, to feel the bone and sinew of foolmo stretching and tearing....and breaking...and bleeding...and...and...

JC lost his train of thought. He suddenly didn't know why he was stalking so slowly, why he was waiting for his satisfaction. He ambushed foolmo, sprinting at him with no regard for being careful or considered in his assault. As you might expect, foolmo heard JC's rapid assault and spun round. JC was on him faster than foolmo could have anticipated, though, moving at an almost impossible pace. Fortunately, foolmo still had time to quickly move his thumb over the button on the dagger.

Once again, time wound backwards a few seconds. In the time it took to rewind foolmo knew what he would do. When the blurring had stopped, the time reversal ended, foolmo span around with the dagger of time in hand. As he expected, JC was roaring towards him at great pace. All fool had to do was dodge out of the way and trip him up.

Smoothly, foolmo tried just that. He dodged off to the left and extended a foot.

In the split-second he had, JC was aware of foolmo's ploy but could not possibly hope to stop in time to prevent himself being tripped up.

It was then that the Frostmourne moved with a total mind of its own. It swung upwards with such aggressive verve JC was dragged off course by it, right into foolmo. The dagger of time was separated from foolmo as he was sent flying by the sheer force of JC and his velocity.

JC let out an uncharacteristic roar. Inexplicably he was the one standing tall, with foolmo downed. JC grinned maniacally as he plunged the sword into foolmo's face and began dissecting him.

The whole thing got wholly unnecessary as JC's bloodlust got the better of him, slicing every section of foolmo so utterly that it was not just foolmo's head that fell off, but every other body part as well. He continued swinging the sword down at foolmo's face for a while before stopping suddenly.

JC looked down at himself, covered in blood. He only briefly had time to consider what he had done before his sword took over his mind once again. The Dagger of Time lay limply on the ground not too far away, and it caught his eye. JC moved over to it almost hypnotically. The sword made contact with the dagger and HOLY S*** STUFF HAPPENED. The Frostmourne began to vibrate as the Dagger disappeared completely, as if it was being absorbed.

When JC raised the sword again, he knew something awesome had happened.

"Hey Mer," said Comm.
"Yes?" said Mer, wrinkling his nose as the wind blew the smell of Comm's sword towards him again.
"I think we should change our name to "Com"mer"dore" now."
"Yeah that makes sense. It's not like the writer only recently realized that would be a far better name or anything."
