Sephiroth, Seymour Guado, and Golbez have challenged Cielo, Athos, and Agahnim to a fight! Location of the fight: Roof: The squarish top of a 40 story skyscraper. It has little cover and is large enough to fit a few helicopters, though it's still fairly small overall. Access to the rest of the place is denied. Which side will win?
Guidelines
- The fight will occur in real-time (like an FMV sequence). Gameplay mechanics are less important than how the characters would function in a real-time environment.
- The members of each team are ideal teammates capable of a pre-selected plan of battle.
- "Broken" refers to a lot of things, including insta-death, auto-effects, a variety of status effects (e.g., Imp, Silence, Stop, *not* Poison), and revival. Unless stated otherwise, nobody has them, though do use your own discretion.
- There may be SPOILERS from all of the games the characters are from.
Rules for Voting
- Bold your votes (using and ).
- Provide a justification for why you think the selected team would win. Fanboy logic, ignoring character assumptions or rules, and vague or unintelligible justifications are all grounds for having your vote disqualified.
- If you want to switch your votes simply bold the change; there's no need to delete your post, though you may if you wish.
- This match will end in 24 hours.
Sephiroth is as he appears in Final Fantasy 7 and the Kingdom Hearts series (minus his Heartless Angel technique), with his legendary sword Masamune, limited teleportation, and access to his FFVII PC form magic. He may not use his Bizarro or Safer forms (or their magic), and no, he doesn't have Supernova.
Seymour is in his base human form from FFX, both playable and boss form. He has access to mid-level elemental and white magic as well as his overdrive Requiem, but he cannot summon Aeons.
Golbez is as he appears in the Final Fantasy IV: The After Years with his best non-broken weapons and equipment, though he's armed with the armor he wears from Final Fantasy IV DS. He has access to all of his spells and techniques from both games, including Barrier Shift, but not Binding Cold or summoning the Shadow Dragon.
~vs~
Cielo is as he appears in Digital Devil Saga 2. Regarding spells and skills, he has all his gun skills, Void spells, elementals up to Ma_dyne, Xanadu, Wicked Curse, non-revival healing, non-ID Hunt skills, Chi Wave, Power Wave, Executioner, Megido, Megidola, and all buffs and debuffs. The only passive skills he has are Phys Resist, Life Surge, and Resolution. He may freely turn into any of his 3 forms - demon, human, or the hybrid.
Athos is as seen in Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword, a Level 20/20 Archsage. He has Forblaze, Luna, Nosferatu, Gespenst, Bolting, Excalibur, Purge, Luce, and Barrier. In addition, he knows and is a master of every magic spell possessed by all his allied fighters participating in the battle as well as those possessed by Golbez, though only of their base forms, before abilities or transformations take effect. Athos is unable to speak.
Agahnim has all of his abilities displayed from his endgame fight in LttP, where he gets two shadow clones. He can be damaged by other means that reflecting his magic back at him.

For the last time, Athos does not need to speak to use spells gained from Cielo and Golbez. It's an established Mercs Rules that being unable to speak =/= the status effect "Silence". And yes, Athos can transform into Cielo and no, transformation not being blocked by mute in DDS does not mean it isn't magical.

Also no, literally nothing the other guys can use can hit Cielo. And even if any of it did, it would barely hurt him at all. Remember, Cielo is a master at buffs and debuffs and with the roof he can get away from his enemies pretty easily to do so.

So Athos can't use any magic. Fire Emblem magic is stopped by the "silence" staff/status effect. DDS and FF magic is stopped by "mute" so therefore no speaky no magicy. At best he can use Agahnim's stuff.
So Seph wipes the weak mages on the other side asap. Seph CAN hit Cielo cause he has teleportation and limited flight himself. He'll keep up with him-- then Golbez blindsides Cielo with magic and Seph wins.

- From this, it looks like Seph mainly teleports around (and the teleporting doesn't seem all that fast either). Flight is mainly used to stay in the air a bit and jump around
- Cielo flying, for comparison

uh, excuse me, but Big Boss' weapons are super-accurate from the 60's and so I do not believe they could take out future jets. Allow me to show you this wikipedia article about cold war-era weaponry to explain
Also, to summarize DDS' story, Cielo wanted to die and he doesn't actually "die" from that anyway so take that how you will.

So can Cielo attack magically while in that form? It seems like he ripped through all the planes physically; would he have to charge Seph/Golbez/Seymour?

The demon form is his main mode of battle and the one where he has access to his abilities. He charged because he had to die to complete their objective.
-- SomeC - sheer explosives since meeting that crazy hobo. BlAcK TuRtLe grabbed the Guru victory, slow but steady.
Well uhhhh no Seph can't. He can't keep up with Cielo at all. This isn't even really debatable, he just plain old cannot do it. And hitting Cielo with magic is such a laughable thing to do that I am going to ignore that whole second sentence.

His teleportation is too slow. By this logic, Agahnim can keep up with and stop Sephiroth anyway. Actually, Agahnim's and Seph's teleportation is roughly the same speed.

Flying speed != combat speed. Show me a scene where he's dodging at the speed of a jet rather than keeping pace with one. Sephiroth is a much quicker dodger cause of the teleports (which are way quicker than Agahnim's)
Cielo can't even HIT Sephiroth.

Hey Lopen, look, I'm sorry. If I could make Cielo slow enough to be hit by Seph, believe me I would. I want you to be happy. But... this is reality. And in reality, Sephiroth is just too slow. :(

Mercs has been turned into a living breathing joke because of this Cielo fad.
It's all because of that Cee Lo Green guy right. Everyone thinks it's hip and hop to be voting for a guy named Cielo but it's all a lie. He's not fast enough to hold Seph's jock.

I see you flyin 'round town With the win i want and i'm like, F*** you! Oo, oo, ooo I guess the wing on my shoulder Wasn't enough i'm like, F*** you! And f*** mercs too!
