This site... how does it exist? Why are people so ridiculous about their standards? How do they sleep at night, knowing their ceiling is "only acceptable to the masses; for me it's a filthy mess of paint and concrete"?

RPG Codex is the forum that hates on everything that isn't a WRPG made in the 90s, right? (Except Beyond Good and Evil, which they seem to like).

I'm fairly certain Chrono Trigger is looked down upon too, being a pretty bog standard JRPG (and if this is the forum I'm thinking of, they hate JRPGs with a passion). But hey, lots of people have embarrassing online usernames that they chose when they were young. I know 25-year-olds who used to have DBZ usernames.

I think it's just the general mentality that the current generation of games are considered trash while everything during the 90s is gold that ticks me off. That seems be the case for both b8 and that board. I don't think people here think bad of ME 1&2, but you wouldn't see many people it on their top 10 lists that for sure!

More than most other forums, yeah, because that forum is extremely hostile to people who don't share their views. I'll give you 50% odds that if you create a new account, and create a topic saying "I like FF7" on that forum that you will be banned; if you aren't banned, you will certainly be flamed/trolled very heavily.

Wait, what? B8 is pretty open to vastly opposing worldviews. SmartMuffin is pretty well-liked here, for instance. And B8 has no real consensus on games; take Sonic--half the people here seem to love the series, the other half think all his games are trash.

Yes, the board that has had two mascots (Bidoof and Phoenix Wright) from games in the late 00s is clearly stuck in the 90s.
(For the record, most of my top 10 these days is 00s games, and no, I would not put ME 1/2 on my top 10; I haven't played them, and probably won't play them any time soon).

No, I've never played them and yes I'd like to try them BUT it's so f****** hard to even think about playing them when its about some damn high school emo teens that all look androgynous and sound like shrill b****** (but maybe that's just the newer ones in the series).

...high school emo teens? .....what jrpg in the past 6 years was that again. hell, going further back i still have trouble thinking of that. young guys sure, but most jrpgs tend to have young adults. only ones that come to mind with young people are some SMT games (which i fear that post must be about P3) and Gust games. i guess VC2 counts too. but... compared to everything else.... what? like that's one of the more notable distinctions between a bunch of jrpgs and anime.

No regrets about my username. Though I will admit that the trolls/newbies going "oh he's just a zelda fanboy" during contest time are annoying, but I'll simply stop wasting my breath with those types for now on.

Well, it's not really hivemind anyway. Somebody could say "Board 8 loves Pokemon," and I would agree, even though I don't like Pokemon myself. It's just a generalization, and generalizations aren't always bad.

check the user votes or reviews on any site that keeps track of them, including here. 12 and 13 are consistently averaged as two of the lowest in the main series, and significantly lower than 4-10. really, the only place I've seen shining praise for 12 across the board is in the professional reviews when the game came out.

Yeah, low opinions of 12/13 are common everywhere.
Go to just about any forum, including B8, and ask them "what's better, FF12 or Mass Effect 2?" and ME2 will almost certainly win.
