Because, why not? I just watched The God Complex and I thought it was great. I can see what some people are saying that it was a little to jarring to go from The Girl Who Waited to that, but I didn't have a problem with it. I'm pretty sure The Doctor's room had a newspaper with the headline "Russel T Davies returns to Doctor Who"

From: Blind Azathoth | #015 Well, if I'm being fair I absolutely hated Rose at first, so if Donna improves as much as Rose did, I'll be her biggest fan by the end.
But Rose got worse as time went on...!
Then according to you, I have a bad opinion... It's cool.
So tonight is the season finale, which feels pretty weird. This season has had a lot of great episodes, but it tried to do both a long-stretching narrative and a bunch of stand-alone episodes which I felt didn't really mesh well together. I know these episodes have been shown out of order a bit, so I would like to seem them in their intended order.

And yeah, this season has been, by and large, pretty bad. Gaiman's episode was one of the absolute best since the revival, and I really liked the first two episodes, but the rest mostly range from ehhh to ugh.

Besides the jumbled part of it, I just don't like the fact that it has been a lot of focus on Rory and Amy and the doctor has seemed like just a sideshow. I still have enjoyed it, just not as much as before.

SemiFinal vs Belarus posted... Ehh? I thought the finale was next week?

It is next week. GANON got it wrong.
Anyway, on an episode by episode basis, I feel that this series is certainly the best. The quaality of each individual episode has been mostly very high, with only the pirate episode being kinda iffy. However, I agree with GANON that put together, it just doesn't feel as cohesive as other seasons.
Still good though, if you watch it with episodic entertainment in mind.

Oh huh, I am wrong. I was about to say, I thought it was odd this season was going to end on an episode that looked like it had nothing to do with the overarching plot.

the fact that it has been so episodic is also one of the things I don't like as much. I have always liked big picture storylines over 'of the week' type shows, for the most part.

Take back what I said about not working as well as an overarching season with the last episode. The way that handled The Doctor's character development was brilliant, and it really worked in the context of the rest of the season and the overarching themes. And of course, the last five minutes of arc stuff worked brilliant.
Not amazing as a standalone story, but I really, really liked the episode in the context of the season.

episode rankingz with pointless names for tiers in lieu of intelligent criticism GO
Jamie McCrimmon The Doctor's Wife
Captain Jack The Girl Who Waited The God Complex
Ian & Barbara A Good Man Goes To War
Martha The Black Spot Night Terrors The Rebel Flesh/The Almost People
Adric The Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon Closing Time Let's Kill Hitler
I'm not sure I'm really a fan of Moffat really channeling american-style cult scifi nonsense for this series and its plethora of story arc focused episodes, but at least it's not series 2
or adric
