Board 8 > So I've been playing Aion all day and it's not that bad !

Expected much less from this game admittedly considering it didn't get the success it was expected to get. Nothing breathtaking or out of the ordinary but it just feels right you know? And I love the graphics and music so far, downloaded the Korean Voice Pack though, because the female voices were so annoying (Think Tennis Woman who scream everytime she hits the ball, but replace hits the ball with ''attack'').

Love the character customization as well, like 50 hairstyles, 30 different pre-set faces that you can alter with sliders, customization is pretty free-for-all too, if you want to make a giant headed midget you can. Gnome sized female characters seem to be pretty popular, I guess it's all the pedophiles around.

Anyway ! Having a real good time, love the fact that gathering items get you XP, got to level five just by picking flower, it's pretty funny. Playing a sexy redhead warrior chick named Seohyeon and it's a real blast.

Guess that's what I'll be playing until GW2 ! Would've been Rift but it's still lacking atm, played it a while after launch and there was not much to do, will probably worth a second look once it gets more content.

Happily surprised, wooh !

MMOs seem to be an easy genre to have fun with, strangely enough. It's only when you compare them to other MMOs (or worse, other genres) that you get problems.

Rift gets new content pretty rapidly. The zone events, especially right after patches, are amazing. I'm not even sure if Hammerknell has been cleared yet, but a new raid is already upcoming.

I find that mmos are fun if you don't focus on leveling, if you do it'll just make the grind look longer and you'll grow impatient. I personally just take my time exploring everything I can, killing mobs for no reason just because, picking a ton of flower so I can eventually brew potions..

Powerplaying in a MMO is the wrong thing to do imo.

I miss Rift. I just can't bring myself to pay the subscription fee for any MMO when it's summer and I'm barely ever able to play them. When winter rolls around, though, I'll definitely be re-subbing.

I almost always play MMOs for either pvp progress or potential endgame progress. Rifts endgame is actually pretty difficult, but also does not require the 30 hour weeks games like FFXI or WoW do

I play games for the journey personally, when I hit level cap I get instantly bored because you stop getting new skills and getting new gear just makes the number on the screen change and it's not good enough to keep me interested.

How does Aion compare to Rift? I was led to believe Rift was overall a little better, that it did everything Aion did and a bit more. And I've played Rift to 50. I got bored at that point largely because the guild I leveled with broke up and I didn't feel like relearning my character when I had been tanking on my cleric up until then, but I'm skeptical another current gen game would do as well considering the few things it felt like Rift was missing were in development at the time.

I couldn't say, I've played Aion for only a few hours and it just feels better, I guess it's just the environment, I love playing in beautiful areas and Rift was seriously lacking in this area, during the first 25 levels anyway.

Probably not enough to make you like Aion if you don't like Rift though !

I know right ! Wanted a good Korean name since it's a Korean MMO and I play with Korean voices, Seohyeon is the best I could find and I'm pretty damn happy with it.

Also just picked my specialization, went with Templar since I don't usually play defensive characters, the other Warrior class use huge ass weapons, I don't like huge ass weapons and I liked the few defensive skills I had as a Warrior (the one that negates a certain amount of damage is so OP).

Can't fly yet, I assume it won't be too long before I can though !

The biggest difference between Rift and Aion is that Aion is run by NCsoft and Rift is not.

Oh man, Aethertapping makes crafting intense, never sure if you'll have enough flight time to harvest a crystal. I fell to my death once because my wings failed me.

That's a good way to put it, I like Aion's artstyle much better, I think Aion is much more PvP focused though with the Aerial battles and stuff.

I'm not a huge fan on PvP but if it's fun I'll still play it, not that I'll ever get to the endgame mind you ! And as I said once I hit level cap I make an alt.

For now I'll have fun backflipping on tree stumps and stealing the life essence of shrubs.

Man I don't get how people don't like PvP. Why would you spend hours and hours a week grinding and doing raids when you can just blow people up in arathi basin?

It's so fun when you are just straight up more skilled than most people, and no matter how much "epic lootz" they have you still destroy them. I guess it's way easier to have fun in raids if you're mediocre than in PvP, though.

you can have fun with any MMO pretty much if you have the right people, but then your whole guild goes inactive out of the blue and you realize the actual game is pretty bad

Oh man I just discovered that you can take repeatable crafting quests that supply you with mats so you can craft all day erryday without having to go in the field and harvest stuff.

Also I love the fact that you can craft anything and everything, you can only master 2 crafting professions but you can try your hand at all of them.

Heh, a guild is pretty much just a bunch of people to talk to for me, I hate playing in a team since it's almost 100% impossible that the other players will want to play the same way I do.

it still helps even if you're mostly not doing party quests or whatever, just like taking turns in a single player game can make it more enjoyable, humans are social creatures and that element enhances the game

Just got to the Capital City of the Asmodians.. it's so much better than the Elyos capital, much less confusing and it justs looks better, it feels more homey, it's awesome.

I thought I liked this game but I think I love it now, Asmodian side is too awesome.

Holy ****, so I went into a tavern in Pandemonium and there was this girl with the '' Daeva of Song '' title so I went to talk to her and she offered me to sing a song and I said yes. And the game really played a song, like 2-3 minutes song with lyrics and music, I never expected that, especially since the song was actually good.

I'm amazed.
