but for the life of me I cannot grasp the my little pony thing.

Like I don't mind telling people I'm addicted to One Piece, but I just can't ever imagine trying to explain My Little Pony to someone. I mean my niece is going to be a champion horseback rider so I could explain that I just have it on my PC for her to watch or some s***, but still.

How do you guys do it? Foolmo, I'm looking for you, because other than the absurd TF2 addiction you seem pretty well-adjusted.

i like all kinds of odd things, true...

so i perfectly understand how the thing can be liked, i am just in a position of being largely outside the sphere the interest is wrapped up in. it touches tangentially on a bajillion of my other interests, but at the core of it, i am not immersed enough in it to fully grasp WHY it is what it is.

the difference is that one piece can be explained as liking action, aka, 'a guy show'.
while my little pony is for 8 year old girls.

your best bet if you can't just lie and if it ever comes up and you can't use your younger siblings as an excuse is probably hide it better. >_>;

or mention powerpuff girls creator made it too so you gave it a shot. insert blame of youth here (or family members' youth here, either or they went on for a goddamn decade). don't even need to say you watched it and can just say you downloaded it and never bothered to delete it. which... can probably work on most people anyway just by how incompetent some are with computers.

Absolutely. The difference is, and this isn't a B8 issue, but pretty much everywhere else, pony fans will bring up MLP no matter what the topic is at hand, no matter where they are, no matter the discussion, and they will do so at every single possible opportunity, constantly. It is an obsession.

No other fanbase does this.

Except maybe the Tea Party.

...alternative approach, or one that you can tie into why you know the ppg person created this show: a weird online friend you have made a bet with you over <insert something here> and you lost. loser had to watch a show of the winner's choice. you picked <insert show that's fine here>, he picked my little pony. you lost. he rambled on about it which is why you know so much about it. you were forced to watch the whole series.

losing bets are always easy excuses though so just be believable. <_<;

man, pre-D/P I was completely uninterested in Pokemon

I was just in a "eh Pokemon completely dropped the ball last gen" mood, and really wasn't hyped for D/P, or even planning to buy it

but the very day it got released, B8 just exploded with hype, and I instantly went to the store and bought it that same day. Board 8 got me back into Pokemon because of it.

606 on the BBC Sport website was like...amazing. Honestly, it was like monkeys with a keyboard at times. I joined solely so I could become the one-eyed king.

The forum I post on worships "ITK" and you are not allowed to question it, lest you scare them away. I once got a 2-week suspension for calling Robbie Keane a malignant cancer - but the kicker was that it wasn't because of the potentially offensive connotations of that (and seriously, man up, these are probably the same people who call Adebayor's mother a whore), but because when the admin gave me the chance to apologise I posted a semi-justification along with my apology.

Pathetic. I've just come off a three-month suspension for posting my football blog, and I found a slightly better forum to lurk on so I just went there instead. I think I'll go out in style on this one though.

Calling his mother a whore isn't even the most offensive thing in that song.

I just recently had a discussion with an Arsenal fan over there who likes to make up chants, and he got to telling me about how hyper-sensitive about the stupidest things they are. Like I guess people got outraged at Arsenal fans saying 'yids' when Sp*rs fans call themSELVES that.

He also made a nifty little Frimpong chant to the tune of "The With Doctor" that Frimpong himself re-tweeted, but a group of people got all upset and said it was racist.

On a side-note you would probably get in trouble on most sites for calling Robbie Keane that, truthful as it may be. >.>

I called him that on the football board four or five times, it was fine

I mean, I get it, don't get me wrong, but it's incredibly narrow-minded. His affect on the team was akin to that of a cancer. He made us worse, negatively affected how we operated. And with every game he played it become more obvious. "Malignant cancer" was the best way to describe his play.

Like I said though, the topic wasn't deleted straight away. The admin gave me a chance to apologize, but he suspended me because alongside my apology I posted a justification.
