Is anyone else following the Traverse City prospects tournament? The Rangers look like they have quite a few good up and comers. They really humbled Jack Campbell today. I'm excited about this Dillon guy. Undrafted kid that looks like he has a good chance to make the Stars' roster this season.
I've been watching all the playoff games on NHL network this summer, though it kills me not to have my mega-homer announce team for the first two rounds.

Yeah, I've been watching them too. Can't wait until they air the finals. HAIL THOMAS
Just posting to withdraw from the league. Won't be able to make it that day, and I'd rather not waste a spot to auto-pick.

I might skip games 1 and 2. I've been watching all the losses so far but I don't know if I can take those two. Even knowing how it all unfolds!

Donny: Are they gonna hurt us, Walter? Walter: No, Donny. These men are cowards.
I'm usually all kinds of excited for the start of the season. I don't know if I'm ready for this one though. Last season was a ****ing embarrassment and I can't honestly say that I'm excited to watch the Canucks play again. Maybe things will change once I actually see them on the ice... but as it stands, I really just don't care about hockey right now.
Doesn't help the the Giants decided to **** the bed at the most important time of the season either... From winning the World Series to (probably) missing the playoffs. Ugh. Hating sports right now.

Going to game 7 of the Stanley Cup final was an embarrassment? Man, talk about being extremely greedy. My team finished second last and I wouldn't even consider it a "****ing embarrassment".

Like if the Yankees were to miss the playoffs this year, that would almost unanimously be considered an embarrassment, where-as the Houston Astros are finishing dead last, with no embarrassment to speak of.
I do agree that sheep's assessment is a bit harsh, though.

There is too much parity in the NHL to consider your team's season an embarrassment if they don't win the cup. You can't expect them to win the cup without any doubt, that's completely asinine. Vancouver was the favorite, and they performed up to expectation.

It wasn't the place where they finished, it was the fashion in which they lost. After watching 75+ regular season games and every single playoff game, I can honestly say that apart from a couple games vs the Wild in Minnesota... they never did worse than they did in the last series against Boston.
Sure I can see people being happy about almost making it, but that really doesn't mean anything to me. The criticisms about the team having no heart are still true... they're just often able to mask it with their incredible amount of skill. If I recall correctly, they had 1 or 2 come from behind victories in the entire season. It just sucks to see your team playing like **** when it matters most. It happened every game in Chicago when they were down a couple goals, and it was the same story in Boston.
I still love the Canucks. They'll always be my favourite team in all of sports. But anyone who watched their entire season will tell you they lost the cup in a pretty embarrassing fashion. The fact that it went 7 games makes it look a lot closer than it really was.
Yeah, I don't think Vancouver's RESULTS are embarrassing, but how they conducted themselves in the final series was horrifying. Their behavior was so ridiculous that they managed to rally virtually ALL non-Canucks fans into becoming die-hard Bruins fans.

Ottawa wins the rookie tourney for the 2nd year running woop woop.
Anyway, I think people are going to be surprised by Ottawa this year. Not only is their prospect pool arguably #1 in the NHL, but they weren't even as bad a team as their record indicates last year. If not for very important injuries and playing in front of the worst goalie in hockey (lolliott) Ottawa wouldn't have ended as low as they did.
This year obviously depends a lot on Alfredsson and Spezza's health, and a few young players continuing to play well (Karlsson, Butler, Greening, Condra) as well as rookies stepping up to the big show ready to rumble (Rundblad, Cowen, Zibanejad maybe.)
Should be an exciting season regardless.

Opportunities multiply as they are seized. You'll Never Walk Alone
My season tickets came in the mail today. God damn it am hyped for this season. Also came with a scarf and an invitation to the Dallas Stars alumni vs current roster game for season ticket holders, and some other stuff I haven't looked at yet.
Hey.... rate the team I created for my pool (How it works is that we have 64 000 000 to spend on a 20-player team; 2 goalies, 6 defs, 4 centers, 8 wingers)

Cobain and I are playing right now. First game of the season with our club, just won 3-0. Those p****** just left the game. We could use any position (PS3)!
From: ESY16 | #041 Looks like we had a 13th member join the fantasy league and so we definitely need 1 more to join in order to have a full 14 and have a draft.
yeah, that's my bad... sorry
I didn't join at first because I thought it was the league like, auto-inviting me cuz of last year. So I didn't join. Then I found this thread and learned it was legit! Also I've been there the last two years so I figured I'd make it three in a row.
If a 14th doesn't materialize I guess I could drop out, I've never done an auction draft before and really aren't too keen on it tbh. We'll see.
EDIT: Just looked again and we're at 14, yay. Crisis averted!
It's $60, and it might even be a powertrade title at EB. FIFA is, at least.
EDIT: Oh right, and if there's a Blockbuster near you that hasn't been raided, it's $37.
