If he had stoxk in either company, he shouldn't be! If he worked for either he should be happy. If he worked for sprint they are currently partying

Corp side prob hates it yeah, on both ends. But the general workers got some possible relief as you know a lot of guys were gonna get canned. Tradeoffs there. Now to see if sprint will go aggresive and finish their deal with clearwire

Is that so AT&T doesn't create a monopoly or something?

Calling it a monopoly is a bit strong, but they're trying to prevent AT&T from acquiring too much market power.

Yeah it's anti trust laws in action. When the no 2 company wants to buy no 4 the fear and risk of competition dying and prices getting jacked becomes real. Also a lot of jobs would be lost no matter ehat at&t wanna say just due to overlap. Don't think anyone expected it to work out for sprint here. Not even they counted on it based on their actions, but it worked for now. If they go to court, who knows. Very good sign though as it's now a lot harder

The issue is that if AT&T buys T-Mobile, then two companies (AT&T and Verizon) will have 80% (IIRC) of the cellular service market. That's a big deal, and it is not particularly good for consumers.

I'm glad to hear about this, and I'm a T-Mobile and Virgin Mobile (Sprint subsidiary) customer!

Yeah, sprint was basically dead if this were to pass, and they had no major way out. Some plans with colevision cox and comcast, some with clearwire, but really bad spot. Now they xan keep their plans up and be legit

I imagine they are also sensitive to "too big to fail" scenarios

Wow this kinda sucks. My family was about to get T-Mobile so we could pay less and eventually get ATT's services.

Wow this kinda sucks. My family was about to get T-Mobile so we could pay less and eventually get ATT's services.

I had to replace my prepaid phone, and I switched providers for two reasons.
1. I don't use minutes much, and mostly want texting and data. Virgin Mobile was half the price for both unlimited
2. I was concerned about the merger, because I know I would be charged more. I don't see any way I could save money, or even keep the same price.

I really doubt you would have saved money in the long term based on my experiences with T-Mobile. I don't think they do grandfathering.

EDIT: AT&T also can terminate grandfathered plans, too. They have threatened some people on their now grandfathered unlimited data plan if they try to tether. If they actually use more than 4 GB of data, they will get throttled. Still "unlimited" but not the same. I wouldn't trust AT&T, period.

Everyone grandfathers, they just limit you by cutting off later phones basically. Or the plan stops being a deal. Both ways, right now tmobile has a pretty great prepaid standard on them. And everyone throttles atfer a certain point, save for verizon. They have caps. All the rest bump you down usually after 2gb virgin included. Family plans are tmobile too. But you wouldn't save much in the long haul as you would have to switch out due to different bands along the road

I agree about the T-Mobile prepaid service. It is excellent for the price. It's just that Virgin Mobile is cheaper for the way that I use my phone (200ish minutes a month, about 200-700 MB of data, some texting).

Virgin Mobile actually does not throttle yet, but they will in October. The limit will be 2.5 GB, which is very good. Additionally, I am grandfathered into a $25 plan, and I can switch devices at any time. Not a bad deal.

Thought they started already, but that's really good stuff you got there, veru nice. Only thing to worry on your end is sprint as I'm pretty sure that's who virgin works off of. Just like how simple works off tmobile
