Just trying to remember, can you change classes on a ME1 file transfer? What's a good class to play as? I usually do Soldier but want to try a new playstyle. Any suggestions?

Depends on what you're looking for. I prefer Infiltrator, but Vanguard is pretty cool, too.

Yeah, you can change.

If you want to do something completely different from Soldier try an Adept.

If you want something that has some similarities to the Soldier try an Infiltrator or Vanguard. Infils get awesome invisibility that ups the damage of your next shot, and Vanguards get Charge, which really has to be seen to be explained. Both are a blast to play.

If you want to play as the jack of all trades, go Sentinel. Only class that naturally has a way of stripping barriers, shields, and armor. They're pretty fun to play, if a bit more defensive than the other classes. A shotgun Sentinel (grab the shotty on the Collector Ship) with Explosive Tech Armor is amazing.

I'm leaning Vanguard right now.

I remember trying to play Adept in ME1 and being terrible at it.

Adept's a lot easier to play in ME2 from what my girlfriend's told me. That's her favorite class, I honestly haven't really played Adept much in either game.

My fave is Infiltrator. Sentinel and Vanguard are tied for second. Vanguard for the sheer power, and Sentinel for the extreme tankiness due to Tech Armor.

I'm an Infiltrator, I've tried other classes and I just don't care for them as much. I've learned to rely so heavily on Tactical Cloak that I can't deal without it.

Seriously, it's such a life saver, and it makes lining up sniper shots a lot easier.

I loved playing Vanguard a lot in ME2 so I encourage it.

Oh, I'm sure it does. It's still funny. Just like rushing a group of enemies with Explosive Tech Armor only for it to blow up right when you get to them, knocking them all down and allowing you to clean up with the shotty. Deadly, but hilarious. Sentinels are awesome.

Vanguard was fun but it was seriously just all charge. I don't even remember any other distinguishing features from that class. Although I do vaguely remember pistol sniping everything that moves.

ME2 Vanguard = Terrible


ME1:
Biotic >= Vanguard > Sentinel > Engineer >= Soldier > Infiltrator

ME2:
Soldier > Engineer >= Infiltrator >= Sentinel > > Biotic > > > Vanguard


My opinion of course, but Biotic powers greatly fell off from ME1, though they were a titch OP in the first game.

I've only ever played one character in ME2 (never played the first) and I chose Vanguard. It's fun as hell. I feel like some kind of space-mage.

Oh, I completed an Insanity Run as an Adept. Having a fallback for running out of ammo (especially since Warp can do some big damage) is so great.

You know, that's a good question. I'm not sure if there's parts where you actually have to shoot. The turrets on the various planets are the main thing that spring to mind as being really difficult if you tried that. Oh, and waiting for your powers to cool down during the last boss.

Actually his shields might regen fast enough that you can't actually damage him if you wait for your powers to cool. Hmmm. It'd be an interesting challenge regardless.

There is. It's called pistol-whipping. It's actually surprisingly effective.

I just remembered the best thing about Vanguard! It's probably not exclusive but I loved shooting warp around corners and barriers and then destroying people as they floated away. Having somebody else on your squad use warp and then charging is also pretty fun.

I tried playing Vanguard once, because I saw some Charging action on youtube and wanted to get in on that, then realize that I suck at it, and my laptop also can't handle the framerate with it apparently, so I'll just enjoy watching it on youtube instead of trying to do it myself.
